Don't know if this has been mentioned.

Swedish Lad Kalhed Abdo.

The likes of Fulham and Hamburg have been chasing Abdo, but Villa have agreed a deal for the 16-year-old.

Abdo came to Villa's attention after impressing for Swedish Second Division outfit Larje-Angered and he is relishing the chance of joining the Premier League club.

"Back in September I found out that Aston Villa wanted to recruit me," Abdo told fotbolltransfers.com. "I'm happy, it feels good.

"I will play with the U18 team but hope to move up to the reserves as soon as possible. I feel I can handle the pace here so I want to take the step from U18 to reserves within a year.

"Aston Villa graduate often players for the first team. Their academy is the best of those I was with. I feel that I can best develop here.

"The goal is to step up to the first team and then maybe move on to a bigger club."

What a plonker, bigger club.

there is a thread on him on the discussion page but yes a bit of a plonker for saying that, he will change his mind once he has been here a while.

Tom Ross on his goalzone page says he's looking into reports that we're interested in Craig Gordon.

We must have a buyer for Given in January then?

Not sure would he want to play second fiddle for Guzan as he lost his place to other keepers in Sunderland, I can see him moving to some championship team to restart his career.

You might be right. Judging by the type of player Lambert has gone for so far, he might have his eye on a younger keeper if he is looking.

The Evening Mail seem to be on a different planet concerning whats going on at Villa Park and Lamberts philosophy. Keane was brilliant for us last season but now Lambert has changed the route on how we need to progress. Perhaps they need to go to a few press conferences and listen .....

Didn't we pay Keane £1m for 6 games ?
Can't see that happening under the austere Lambert regime

Hopefully Siegrist can make the step up and save us the time and money bringing another keeper in.

Lambert won't want to bring in a player for such a short amount of time only for him to use it as pre-season training. It would be good to find a younger version of Keane though.

I've seen his name thrown around a few times but I have literally no idea what Siegrist is like. As our current young prospect keeper, does anyone know if he's any good?

He's potentially very good. Very tall, great reflexes, calm and commands his area. Was also part of the Swiss team that won the U17 world cup a few years back.
Still very young but I'd expect him to be number 2 at least in a couple of years if he continues as he is.

Perhaps we're taking Gordon in part-exchange for Dunne.
