I always liked Gardner when he was here, and since he's left he's developed into a pretty good player. Every time i see Cahill play,i just think, thanks a lot M'ON you short sighted prick.

No problem with Gardener, but is he a good long term move......not for me.A player like Sissokho on a free would have been a better idea, or look to a loan signing until next summer.Apparently Arse want to send Frimpongout on loan, would be a better deal to me.

Yes, good idea. Three years ago Arsenal wouldn't have dreamed of letting us have a player on loan, and we wouldn't have wanted one. But now it may (sadly) suit us both and we may as well take advantage.

Fringpong would be ideal.  Lets also remember that Arsenal have a history of letting players go that could arguably will make it (Arsenal level).  Off the top of my head there is the CB that has been at Rangers for a few season, Bentley, Pennant and Upson that would all be considered good enough for us (at the time).

He's about to turn 26, so he's not a bad age if we are looking at the long term.  In the long run I would hope we could attract a better quality of player, but I think he could do a good job for a couple of seasons at least and would give us a bit of much needed stability in central midfield.  Hopefully he could bring the best out in his brother when he comes back from injury as well!!

On the subject of local born players about who there is doubt whether they and their families are Blues or Villa fans, I still think a Bid for Nathan Redmond could be a decent move.

I think it's a good shout, Tom, although I don't know how well he's playing right now.

I wonder if Tom Ince and Matt Phillips might get itchy feet if Holloway moves on which looks likely.

I like ince but I think there will be a few clubs interested in him- not sure Phillips is what we need but if bent goes he might be on the radar.

Well Lambert has said he's looking to make signings in January. So I'm hoping for a left back, centre mid and creative player of some description.

Thought he was excellent against us last week, but not knowing too much about him I was surprised to read in the programme notes that he is 30.

I would as well John, but I think Blackpool would want a lot of money for him.  Saying that, I'm sure the Blues would also hike up the price for Redmond if we were interested.
