Gardner couldn't get in our midfield when he left but I think he'd get in it now- wouldn't be against him coming in - versatile as well.
I always felt that - along with Cahill - he was wrongly disposed of by MON to make space for one of his expensive signings (Sidwell, in the case of Gardner; I think). He was another victim of MON's "play-him-out-of-position" strategy.
Ironically, I think that has probably helped Gardner develop as a player.

Gardner would probably get in our side as a right back never mind a midfielder at the moment.

Lowton looks ok - he just needs to learn how to cross so that we get some deliveries from the full-backs. Lichaj did it yesterday for the winner.

I think Frank Gardner would do a better job than most of our midfield at the moment, let alone Craig.

If we're talking about Gardner's who would improve our midfield, i'll add Percy Thrower to the mix.

I'd prefer us to spend our January money on one midfielder that will be part of the new/future villa.  Craig Gardner might improve us a bit but I'd hope we are looking beyond his level.  I appreciate we need to spend to avoid relegation but I do not see the point in filling the squad with players (and topping up the wage bill) which will prevent us from moving forward in the future.

I just hope that PL has a better idea of who that "one" player is than me.

Probably bollocks but I found this link to Abdoulaye Ba. I would worry we'd end up loosing him to the African Nations.

I wouldn't worry too much - Senegal have already been kicked out of the next one.

Craig Gardner would be very useful in the middle of the park. He's a ******, but still a good player.

He would be in our team now if he stuck with us a bit longer. He would have got in over Hogg 2 years ago anyway.

What? Fallen since Gardner was one of our midfielders?
