The trouble is with Gardener that the knuckleheads would only see the Blues connections and crucify Villa for making a move for him. As for me, I wouldn't say no. I can't remember if he was a regular under O'Neill but suspect not. Another ex-Nose I'd take is Seb Larsson.

Strange that TSM didn't go in for Larsson on a free. He would have been so much better than CNZ I'm sure. I'd have Craig G back as well.

Clampy, I wouldn't care either. But Lambert isn't working with a whole lot of credit at the moment. If he bought him in, the smart thing to do would be to do it second or third in a spate of January signings.

Not long after he took over TSM was quoted as saying he contacted Larsson/his agent but the deal with Sunderland was as good as done by then.

That wouldn't have stopped a Clough or an MON!

I'm sure TSM came out and said that he wanted Larsson but he'd already agreed to go to Sunderland.

Gardner couldn't get in our midfield when he left but I think he'd get in it now- wouldn't be against him coming in - versatile as well.

Okay, must have missed that TSM/Larsson story at the time. Fuck knows how, the amount of time I spend on here.

I always thought Craig Gardner was a decent player to have around, always put in a shift and had a decent shot on him. To compare him to another player people mention getting back, I'd have him back over NRC every day of the week.

Not sure what's happened to him at Sunderland, though. Has MON had him playing at right back?

Not too sure I'd actually want him back now, though, prob too much water under the bridge since.

Yeah he's been playing right back. Not sure if that's due to injuries (i'm sure Davey will tell us).

Yeah Clampy, Phil Bardsley the normal RB, has been out for quite a while. He was back last night for the Boro disaster, but Gardener has been covering for him for most of the season so far. He's been great there to be fair, but we could do with him in the middle i think. At least he can get goals from there!

Ba's first goal here is pretty impressive!
