Can you imagine how many goals Fulham will score with Berbatov and Bent?  More than us, in any event.
I could see him going there to be honest. Fulham aren't shy of paying big wages. There also a team who are 2-3 signings from pushing for the last Euro berth (assuming it's 6th or 7th).
Sadly...

12m would never be enough and there would be no point in having Berbatov, Rodellega and Bent..

I don't think the club would accept £12m anyway.

I think we possibly will be looking to sell and give lambert money to spend to boost his coffers further , the longer bent struggles the more his valuation will drop - do we take the money and buy elsewhere or turn it down and keep a player who doesn't fit the managers plans ?

I would like bent to stay but only if it means we play a system to create the chances for him , I can't see the manager however changing his style to accommodate him.

Fulham will maybe test the water and then go a bit higher  or they may say take it or leave it - depends how much lambert sees the money from bent would help him to get the players he needs.

Bent doesn't really need to force the issue at all - I think lambert would sell if the money is right , if more than one team want him maybe we could push it closer to £15 m?

Lambert's already been quoted as saying Bent will still be here in February, although he would'nt really say anything else. Then again, it's not as if he's frozen him out like he has with Hutton and Warnock.

I reckon he'll start him on Saturday up there.

Of course lamberts hardly gonna say " I'm gonna get rid of him as soon as I can " is he ?

I think more likely to start at Swindon than on Saturday - our system is not suited to him sadly.

Lambert said he was happy at Norwich and then quit with all sorts of revelations about behind the scenes arguments- he will be diplomatic with his answers understandably.

Don't think we'll take 12, but I could see us taking 15, or there abouts if a deal can be done. It depends how well Berba starts. Rodallega doesn't score goals. If Berbas struggling to score or with his fitness they might splash out on a forward. They're in a solid position so pushing on with a couple of decent signings might be sensible. Jol's ambitious too so he'll be wanting to sign a few to supplement a Euro push.
I don't forsee Fulham being desperate to sign someone though so they won't pay the jan surcharge. In the summer though I think Bents a goner.

Yeah, a part-ex with Sidwell should satisfy those looking for more experience in MF.    ;D

At the time we were trying for Dempsey, Lambert was quoted as saying that Benteke would have come in regardless whether Dempsey had joined or not so hopefully that money is still available.

As we saw with bents arrival the threat of relegation and the loss of revenue it would mean are likely to persuade randy to dig deep and spend big money- better to spend £25m and stay up than go down and lose tens of millions.

Lets hope we buy the right players if we spend big as we cannot afford to get things wrong this time.

Bent was'nt bought in to fight off relegation in particular. Apparantley Houiller pinpointed him as a player he wanted when he joined. I think there's transfer money there for a player if he needs it, but obviously one eye needs to be kept on the wage bill.

I think the problem is more complex now than it was when we bought Bent. In Jan 2011 we had a midfield including Petrov, Young and Downing, creating loads of chances but not scoring enough goals.  We needed an out and out goal scorer to put the chances away. Bent was the ideal man and, more importantly, was available. What we need now imo is a dominant midfielder, a play maker, and another defender. Who they'd be, and whether they're available is one thing; the other thing is whether they'd have the same immediate impact as Bent did.

Staying in this league is the main concern , if that means paying big wages to attract top quality then so be it - the loss of revenue from relegation would be far more than paying the going rate for a top quality player.

Paying an extra few grand in wages to the right player or losing multi millions in relegation is a no brainer.

We need more than one player i think Clampy. Think we should be looking for at least 3. A couple in midfield and another defender.

True, but the signing of that fabled 'midfield general' would improve us hugely.

I agree totally and hopefully there are eyes and ears on the look out for possible targets so deals can be done quickly and with the minimum of disruption. They will have to come into the team ready to play immediately, no time to " Settle in ."

Oh sure, i did'nt just mean one player, i just meant that if there was a player he wanted for say £12m, i think the money would be there for him.

It's a pity Lambert dose'nt seem to like playing with wingers because Malouda at Chelsea can't seem to get a game for them at the moment. He's 32 though but he can probably still cross a decent ball.
