Plough Lane.
FA Cup 3rd round replay 1991.
Soaked piss wet through and miserable.
Lost with a last minute Alan Cork goal.
Old Bill stopped me getting on the train.
Late home, soaked piss wet through and miserable.

Sigh. Those were the days.

Remember it well.  Stood on the away terrace when it started raining and my brother said 'fuck this, follow me', so we just walked out of the gate at the front (post Taylor report), casually round the pitch and into their 'main stand' and plonked ourselves in some seats right behind Peter Withe and Dr Jo on the Villa bench.  Even had the cheek to go into their Directors Lounge (which was also a shocking disco room) at half time for tea and sarnies.  Happy days.

My worst away day was probably the Coca Cola cup game at the sty which we won 1-0 in 1993.
Couldn't stay in Tamworth overnight due to work the next morning so had to get the train back to Lahndun after the game.
Managed to avoid what appeared to the whole ground trying to suss out Villa fans afterwards for what I suspect wasn't a congratulatory handshake and got back to New street in one piece.
The train back to the smoke however seemed to be full of bollock chain sporting cavemen loudly proclaiming amongst themselves how it was lucky there were no Villa on the train as they would "kick the fuck out of them".
The train seemed to take ages going through the various stations before the last of them got off at Rugby. As the train pulled out, I tapped on the window and gave them a 1-0 signal. They actually started trying to chase the train up the platform as it sped off.
I was childishly still laughing about this when I arrived two hours later at Euston.

Bradford City, Leeds United, Middlesbourgh(Ayresome Park), Millwall,Bolton Burden Park), Sunderland (Roker Park) and Cardiff City(Ninian Park) are grounds i have never enjoyed seeing Villa play at. Lots of aggro  waiting for sure. Small Heath and Wolves not enjoyable either

Anyone recall Huddersfield away about 1987 when it started pouring down at 255pm and didn't stop ! It was their old ground which was a bit like stepping back into the 1930's (as was Huddersfield generally)
I was there with some of my Cannock Villa mates.
We "Borrowed" an old morris marina, well nobody else was going to drive it, to get there.
We broke down on the motorway miles away from Huddersfield, left the car on the hard shoulder and climbed the embankement to find civilization.
We must have walked a couple of miles and found a bus stop. Feck me, the next bus had Huddersfield on it. On we got and got to the ground, what a shithole it was aswell.
The rain started, got worse and worse. It was quite funny to see all us Villa fans battling to get shelter under a six inch wide hot dog hut shelf!!
With no way of getting home we managed to sit in the isle of one supporters coach and got dropped at Lichfield. Another long wet walk to the town centre, onto a bus back to Cannock.
Fecking drenched is not a correct description really, it was worse.
Funny thing was we still made it back to our local pub in Hednesford before last orders.
Happy days they were, some dodgy situations but great memories.

Small Heath and Wolves not enjoyable either

I've been to Wolves 3 times and we've won every time. Once 4-0, once 2-1 with a late Heskey winner and the 3-2 with a Robbie Keane brace. Love it there.

Went to Moulineux last season, quite like the ground especially as it's pretty much bang in the city centre which is a rarity nowadays with all the new grounds.

Can't imagine the underpass was much fun in the old days?

...and the Bridge Boys - if they didn't get you going under they got you going over - rabid bunch who attacked anyone.
I used to go up for a laugh against "interesting" opposition (Millwall, Manure, Cardiff etc) with a load of Stourbridge Wolves.
They could get into a scrap in a Buddhist temple!

Yep midweek, Replay, weren't we 3 down by HT? I remember leaving on 60 mins to find my car had been blocked in so tried to get back in & they wouldn't let us ! Ended up listening on the radio outside the ground in the car.

Yeah i was at the Huddersfield away match in 1987 and remember it pretty well. It pissed down all day and we got soaked to the skin. If i remember correctly we won 1-0 with David Hunt scoring and there was a big punch up outside the ground after the game.

Some bloke called Paddy was  standing in the terrace with his top off all game.I can't remember if he made it back to the train or not.
