I've said similar on another thread, very difficult find a decent (or indeed any) city centre pub there.

Trying to find the Reebok during one of O'Learys season was a paint in the arse. Took the wrong turning, ended up in Bolton town centre lost, went in a few news agents asking for directions, when we started to head into the general direction of the stadium it came across on the radio that we had gone a goal down through Diouf. Finally got to the ground 40 minutes later just in time to see McCann shoulder an equaliser in and then we nicked it in the last minute through a Hitz rocket. Probably put this in the wrong thread as it was a great away day but just a bitch to find.

Anyone been to see us at Millwall?

Went there in 1967 and again in 1975.
I guess it was worse because we won both times.
The Old Den looked such a welcoming place.

That picture actually makes it look better than it was. Went there in '87-'88 and '89-'90. In hindsight it was probably for the best that we lost both times.

I've seen that photo somewhere before. Bloody terrible and only Blues fans should be subjected to this type of thing while watching a dvd of our 1982 victory.

Milwall in 89-90 was scary. En route we were held up by the Police at Tower Bridge while they cleared the locals who were already gathered ready to "throw stones at [us]" (sic.) In the ground there was only a thin chicken wire fence between us and the home supporters. The local Police seemed to be ejecting/arresting Villa fans at random and we were kept in the ground for so long after the game that by the time we came out Derek Mountfield was in his suit and boarding the team coach.  To add insult to injury we were crap and they got away with a tackle on Kevin Gage which nearly amputated his leg it was so OTT.

I used to work at London Bridge station on some Saturdays. I would always try to dodge dates when Millwall were playing as it would be quite scary. Even in the early morning. They really do have some rough fans.

The New Den is still a shit hole.

Our local tip...erm..."recycling centre"....is next door to the ground and I went to take a look the other day when I was chucking some rubbish out. It's virtually next door to the old Den, just off the Ilderton Road.

Full of moody looking railway arches, scrap metal yards, tenement blocks and dodgy south london boozers. They've built a caged walkway which carries away fans back to South Bermondsey station .

Over my years of travelling, 69 to 79 I saw probably some of the most extreme issues at football games in the period.
In 69 we were relegated to Division 2
There was no such thing as crowd segregation, you pitched up bought your ticket and went into the ground.
In those days , "taking some ones end " was a target.
I lived in Coventry as a schoolboy and after, our relegation to division2 and their promotion to division 1, almost every team that went there, invaded the West End.
Without Knocking my good mates who contributed to the "Hoolie Book "  some of my experiences, Milwall away 73, this one deserves a story in H.V, I will write it.
Liverpool, I went to the Youth Cup final in 72 ?  +/-, it was 2 legged, we had I think 20,000 at Villa park for the first leg. I went to Anfield for the second leg,as a youngster, some scouser in his 40,s decided He needed to kick the shit out of me.
After going back when we were In the first Division in 76, wow, Anfield Road end stand packed with scousers, Villa fans coming through the turnstiles having to either run or hold their ground, was impressed by local cops who waded in with long Batons and eventually split fans in the Anfield Rd down the middle.
Forest was also a vibrant place to visit over a three year period.
United before the plastic mancs was a story on its own.
For me the Bloose have never been that scary, in 69 when we were relegated we drew 0-0 at Villa Park, that day they were on the holte end althrough the game and for the last time.
Back at the sty for the return fixture, as a 13 year old I was dodging bricks that were being hurled down at the Villa fans Queing to get into the Kop.
After the kick off a team of Vila fans set it off in the middle of the Tilton.
In later years I understood these to be my old mate (to young to have scared anyone)Coogan, and his older betters from the Glebe/Lea village.
My summary,Milwall by far the worst place I have been, Inccluding Fenabarche in 77, when they were burning flags and seats around us.

Swindon Town, FA Cup 92, was only 20 at the time, just bought an XR3i and thought I was the dogs gonads so like a twat drove to Swindon. Stuck in traffic on the way out, scarves out the window giving it the big en because we won, got surrounded by a mob of about 20 of them, started banging the windows and trying to pull the scarves out to the point they bent my f'kin door open! didn't want to open the window, they were big lads!
Trying to get away hit the car in front of me and smashed the fog lights, cost me a fortune to get it fixed!! Bastards!!

The Sty too, detest the place shit hole of the highest order!

Mine would be loosing 3 0 at Sha, went to that game 3 days after my 18th. My dad punched John Frains brother in a suite after the game. We were invited into a suite through a company my dad had dealings with.
I think he thought it would be safer for me to go in and have a drink rather than running the McDonald's Island gauntlet. John Frains brother was offering any Villa fan in their out. possibly thinking there wouldn't be any. My dad walked up to him and just stuck one on him. We left shortly after!
Amazingly we went back to the same suite when we beat them 1 0 - Phillips.

The defeat in the League Cup wasn't a great night either was it. Luckily we left in injury time.

Loosing 3 0 at Doncaster was awful too. I went dead excited as i thought we'd batter them. It was my first proper experience at terracing at an away day. I was 9 when most Prem grounds turned into all seatas.

Charlton away 86/87 was a terrible day
0-3 loss at selhurst park and relegation was more or less confirmed
Was a long drive home
