Brian Little. He should win it every year.

Wasn't this thread started after the Olympics, too?

I remember saying that there were too many worthy winners, but, Ellie Simmonds would be my pick.

Yes. Not seen it before. I'll merge them as opposed to lock the original.

It's really tough, because in any 'normal' year most of them would be more worthy winners than the likes of Ryan Gigss and other past winners.

Wiggins --> Farrah --Murray in that order.

Wiggins just over Murray. Both fantastic achievements, but Wiggins seems like a genuinely good bloke. Farah for third.

You just know it's going to be one of the 'Big Guns' that win it. That's why I'd love to see someone like Ellie win with Katherine Grainger, Sarah Story or David Weir making up the top 3.

Can't split the achievements of Wiggo and Murray, but I think Wiggo will win it due to the perceived anti Englishness of Murray (which is bollox).   I would be happy with either winning it and I would hope that Farah is 3rd, because 5 and 10k double has never been done by a GB athlete before either.

It's a good list, although there is one glaring omission in my eyes with no Laura Trott listed and the panel that picked it should have their collective backsides kicked for not including her.   I was lucky enough to be at the Rowing when Kath Grainger won her Gold medal and I am quite pleased she is on the list, but no way is she in front of what Trott has achieved this year?

I think they probably should have increased it to 15 and then Trott, Brownlee and maybe Poulter could have been included too.

I have also just read that they have increased the shows running time too 2.5 hours.  I think that it has been such a stellar year that they should have cleared the schedules that night and done it proper justice with a 4 hour programme.

Should be Wiggo but I have a feeling that the BBC Olympic coverage will swing the vote on the night to Mo Farah, who would be my second pick anyway.
That McIlroy, Jess Ennis and Chris Hoy probably won't make the top three will tell us all we need to know about what a superb year it was away from the bloody football!

The whole British Olypic and Paralympic team will win team of the year, that's a given.

Bradley Wiggins, whatever the achievments of the others he simply had an incredible year. He won Paris–Nice,Tour de Romandie, Critérium du Dauphiné all top class races as well as the 2012 Tour de France and the time trial at the Olympics.  He also has a personality.

And a good point about Laura Trott.

How does a retired ex-Everon / ex-Rangers footballer make it onto the list ?

Why wasnt Richard Whitehead on that list. By a mile the most sensational performance in either of the two summer games!

Is he the one who moved from doing the marathon to sprinting because there wasn't a marathon for leg amputees in the Paralympics? If so then yes, a remarkable feat.
