Members of Villa's triumphant NextGen Series squad are set to appear with the trophy at the family funday ahead of Saturday's clash with Fulham.

Skipper Samir Carruthers will be bringing the European trophy to the Villa Park Indoor Academy along with seven of his team-mates from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

The young Villa squad became champions of Europe during Easter when they defeated Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea at the NextGen finals weekend in Lake Como.

They also defeated PSV Eindhoven, Celtic, Ajax and Olympiacos during a memorable campaign.

Carruthers, goalscoring heroes Graham Burke and Michael Drennan, defensive trio Janoi Donacien, Josh Webb and Lewis Kinsella and attacking aces Callum Robinson and Jack Grealish will all be on hand to greet supporters at the funday.

The whole NextGen squad - many of whom are in action for Villa's U18 side at Blackburn on Saturday - will also get the chance to parade the trophy at half-time during our home game against Sunderland on Monday April 29.

The Mars Family Funday before the Fulham clash includes a host of free activities for supporters to enjoy from 12.30pm up until kick-off.

Among the activities confirmed are Mars games, air football, inflatable cactus hoopla, baskeball strike, air flow racer, assault course, face painting and some football challenges.

The Mars M&Ms mascots will also be in attendance along with the Villa mascots.

It is a great way for all the family to get involved in the pre-match festivities before settling down to watch the important encounter against the Cottagers.

I still think the ''Cottagers'' is a bit of a dodgy name though. Maybe they do all play with each other in the toilets. ???

Not too sure which is worse.  These Chelsea commentators are so biased.

lovely to hear the Chelsea commentators saying that "they are chasing the ball and the Villa are just playing keep ball".

Villa U21 1-0 Chelsea U21 - GOAL - 25 mins: Villa are in the lead thanks to the quick reactions of Alfie Crooks. Chelsea's goalkeeper Jamal Blackman came flying out of his goal to meet Lewis Kinsella's curling left-wing cross. He could only punch the cross as far as Crooks who fired into an empty net from the edge of the box.

Alfie Crooks? He sounds like a player from the 1940s!

As an aside, our U-13s played against Coventry last weekend (away). We lost 3-0, but one of our U-11s took part and was player of the match. Building for the future.
