From the O/S
Four of Villa's NextGen Series heroes are back in action today in the Barclays U21 Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Samir Carruthers, Josh Barton, Janoi Donacien and Liam Bateman - who all featured as Villa triumphed at the NextGen finals weekend in Lake Como - have been named in the starting line-up for this afternoon's game at Cobham.

Doesn't look like they are doing so well in the league despite winning the NextGen series.

I wonder if we'll win 2-1 and they'll miss a last gasp penalty?

Seems a bit abrupt. Did he go out on the lash and batter someone last night?

Just got released, the same as happens every year.

Just found out from my lad that the captain, number 5 Doclein (sorry about spelling) went to school barely a mile from me.

Janoi Donacien.
He nearly got deported last year didn't he?

Yes, over some complete nonsense, his parents both have the legal right to be in the UK and he'd been here since he was about 9 but as soon as he got a work contract he should have applied for a change in his visa but who' d think of that having lived in the UK for that long with no issues, I think he can apply for british citizenship soon anyway, it was ridiculous.  Effectively "you're allowed to stay in the country so long as don't find work", which is about as backwards as you can get.

Having the right to work also means that you have to make national Insurance and tax contributions. It would also mean he could be entitled to benefits. Somebody having the legal right to be in the UK doesn't mean family members can do as they choose. That legal right may only be limited leave.

Must be a bit strange for him.  European glory and getting dumped in the same week.

Another way of looking at it... they knew they were going to release him but didn't want to deny him the chance to get a winner's medal, which will also look good on his CV if he decides to try to continue his career elsewhere.

U21's are 2-0 up away to Blackburn with 10 minutes left, Robinson and Grealish on target.

Are any of our lot going to be chosen for the u19, u20 or u21 England squads for the Summer tournaments? I know Peter Taylor is manager of the u20 one.

Don't really count him as 'ours' now. He won't be for much longer.

I still look out for some of the lads that came through the youth system and think of them as being ours when they score or do something newsworthy (that's positive).
