Steve Hodge without a doubt for me, left us in a lurch after being in world cup 1986 when most Villa fans were proud to him being there. I was brought up in the early 70's and the players wanted to play for the mighty Aston Villa. People like Hodge have not got a clue what Aston Villa Football Club is abut
are you taking the piss?

No, why you think that?
no reason, i dont know if there would be many others who share your view??

Did you mean in how Hodge performed for Villa at the start of the 86/87 season or as not being proud to wear the shirt. I mentioned the early 1970's and would suggest the vast majority in those days were very proud to wear the shirt

Lee Hendrie for me.  Having met him a few times I hated him playing for us.

I thinkthe important thing with a thread like this is that it shouldn't have any basis on lack of talent.  I don't dislike Hutton, I just don't think he's good enough to be here.

There's no current players I genuinely dislike and a lot of the players on this thread I think are here unfairly (Alpay for example was a  good player for us, and reasonably popular, until the press made him a public enemy).

I wouldn't say he was unpopular as such but I never liked Peter Schmeichel.

Heskey, Heskey, Heskey.

Until yesterday, I had pretty much zero time for Barry Bannan. I hope I'm proved wrong, I just don't like him.
Erik Bakke, Michael Oakes, Steve Stone...just didn't like them

Ray Houghton for me, no particular reason but didn't like him as a player and if by chance I hear him on the radio I dislike him even more.

Just because the listening public haven't played football at a professional level that doesn't disqualify them from having an opinion you patronising twat.

Why is he taking the piss? This is exactly how I felt about him. He was a fine player, and when he went to the '86 World Cup we were proud of it. Then he came back all Billy Big Bollocks and wanted out of the club. I've never disliked a Villa player as much before or since then. A total wanker, but let's not forget he was a good player for us before he thought he was bigger than the club.

One from the past: Nigel Callaghan, one from the present: Alan Hutton, one for the future: Any player from Stoke.

Collymore. Mainly because i've never been so excited about a signing before or since. Complete waste of space. Of the current crop i'd have to say N'Zogbia. Hutton may get stick for being shit but N'Zogbia is worse IMO as he has the ability but doesn't use it. No excuse whatsoever for a lack of effort.

For a long time people got on Angel's back massively. After the one season that he banged in about 19 goals, his form fluctuated and I remember the Holte End having a real go at him on a few occasions, not just the Spurs game when he blasted a penalty wide then nodded one past Stuart Taylor. Funny how the OS and so many people on here talk about Angel as being a modern day legend, I seem to recall him as being the ultimate confidence player and so frustrating to watch.

That's exactly how I remember him.

Angel got away with a lot because the fans saw him as "our player" as he was the one Doug splashed the cash on after the "Spend or Go" campaign.
He was hit and miss, decent enough but probably not much better than Savo really.

Bryan Small. I never thought he had the heart and desire t win the ball. Wasnt it him who allowed Cantona the header at OT in 1992?
