For the first time in a while I am looking forward to the season starting.

OK only one game in ....but - has the lack of transfer activity or links to players disappointed you so far?

I renewed as I was swept up in the frenzy that came along with the appointment of the new manager, however I am now just a tad worried beceause the squad is as weak as it has been for many years with far too many time-wasters and frankly, poor quality players.

Hopefully a few will be moved on in the next fortnight and an influx of new players to follow.

Personally the players to shift in a major hurry are Nzogbia and Ireland , who between them are costing the club at least £130K a week.

I was at Bremen and "some" of the squad managed to applaud the few hundred Villa fans from the half way line whilst Ireland just trudged off without acknowledgement whatsoever. That *ucks me off so much !

Its been a long time since my club have been amongst the favourites to go down - its not pleasant.

Lets hope the Lion does roar this Saturday and at least put up a show against a strong and efficient Everton side.

Like many others I was excited by PL's appointment and the new players coming in but when I look at this team I can't see any guts, class or quality apart from Bent maybe - we will see what Saturday brings but am concerned already. Hope to be proved utterly wrong and eat humble pie for a season.

Im feeling happier than last season although I still think it will be a struggle and cannot see us finsihing above 12th.  Hopefully I am wrong.  Im starting to get very concerned about the lack of signings made so far and this one in one out policy just doesn't make sense asyou will alwyas have the same size squad

I don't think we have an issue numbers wise, just in terms of quality and ratio of contribution against cost.  One in one out, if done right, will still improve us.

Last season we under achieved, that is clear for all to see. I've seen enough of Lambert to see what he is trying to do and have every confidence that despite us have an average premiership squad he will secure a season of consolidation and mid table security whilst bringing on our young players and shipping out the deadwood.

Like others I fear that the squad is bereft of real quality and injuries don't help. Overall I feel more positive than last season because we have a manager who seems to know what he's doing. I think we will still struggle, probably losing games we would have drawn last season but winning some we would have lost. Hopefully we'll be able to avoid getting sucked into a relegation fight but nothing is certain. The Lambert appointment is almost the last throw of the dice for Randy and if it doesn't work I don't know what the answer will be.

I quite like the orange.... But perhaps we could have lime green.

We are Aston Villa - we glow in the dark

Still feeling positive, but would like it if this Ollson swap/move came off.  But as has been said Lambert knows what he's doing and a good scouting framework is being put in place.  Lessons will have been learned from the game against West Ham.

Still very positive. I'd feel much better if we added 2 or 3 more solid pieces to the squad and were able to dump Moe and Larry to join Curly who left for at West Ham.

It's easy to get a little edgy about transfers because we run our operation more secretively than the KGB. Hopefully some deals are being worked on for good players to help the cause.

Usually but it was more like Carry on Spy in the case of Vlaar.

One of the drawbacks of modern technology is trying to keep things under wraps with a million camera phones around. Had that picture never been taken, just like the photo of Randy's plane in Norway none of us would have been the wiser. I think Villa for the most part carry out their transfer business very professionally.
