Chocolate concrete was definitely normally served with pink custard. As far as I know it was nothing more than flour, cocoa powder, sugar and butter mixed together and cooked. It therefore required no cooking ability whatsoever, and could be made for hundreds of kids with hardly any effort at all at a cost of mere pennies.
I'm sure the combo at my primary school was chocolate concrete with GREEN (mint?) custard
Chocolate concrete is dead easy to make. It's just butter, eggs, sugar, self raising flour and lots of cocoa powder.Melt the butter, add the flour, sugar and cocoa powder, mix it up, add the eggs, mix it again, stick it in the oven for 40 minutes.Experiment with amounts and temperatures for added fun.Must be left for at least an hour after cooking to allow it to set properly.
mons veneris with nut custard is a favourite treat of mine
What is the concrete stuff that I missed as a child? Might have to try making it. As for green custard???
