500 or so can seem big if the cameras shoot it right

5 would be enough to work with, frankly. It's been done.

Depends on the spin the news channels put on it. I can see Sky showing the 5 and saying that shows how fickle the fans are. Whereas Central might have the camera in with them to give the impression of lots.

I dunno, Sky wouldn't play the story down. It kind of undermines their reason for running it. It'll be a quiet news day tomorrow, I can see it being covered quite prominently.

Forgive my cynicism but... aren't we in danger of looking a bit 'Geordie'? Encouraging lots of people to hang about outside an empty stadium ready to welcome the latest messiah for the tv cameras.

I see nothing but good in welcoming a new manager with lots of positive support. It's something I won't criticise the Geordies for and they're not the only fans that do it.

If there's anything in it will send a message to the players that we're backing this guy so you'd better pull your finger out. No hiding this season.

If the crowd are behind the manager from the start, it does show the players that they can't play shit and point to unpopular manager, and it shows a positive side after the protests last year.

As for the day it is on, I don't really see an issue, it is bank holiday and Lambert will have a lot to sort with his family, talk to Culverhouse and Karsa, and get ready to move.

I agree, it's a great idea. Positive vibes and all that.

Barcelona or Real Madrid always wheel out the latest signing and have him juggle balls in front flashing cameras, TV and 50,0000 fans. There's nothing small time about giving our new manager some love and respect. We all need a pick me up actually after the near disaster that was last season. I'd love to be there. In fact the only thing that is small time is the way we acted as a club on and off the field in the past two seasons. Not much has gone right. I wouldn't follow everything the Geordies do, but they do get behind their team and we could do a lot worse than show a bit more passion now and again.

Sorry, I have been out the loop.  Is it confirmed that Culverhouse and Karsa are coming, or do we find out tomorrow?

Isn`t this what sets Brummies aside from Geordies and Scousers ? Liverpool and Newcastle folk are very passionate about the game whereas Birmingham folk less so? - Having lived and worked in Brum for 30+ years and now Merseyside 17+ years  there is a discernible difference between the cities in their expression of fondness for the game and their clubs.
Its generally a topic introduced into many a conversation - when I lived in Brum it was less the case.
Kinda reminds me of when Brum was going for the Olympics and most people I spoke with couldn`t care less..
I am a Brummie and proud of it - but we just don`t get too excited do we ?

Certainly not confirmed yet, but whether or not we'll find out tomorrow I don't know!

Scousers and Geordies are no more passionate about the game. They're just... noisier. In both a good and bad way.

I don't give a flying fuck how we look to anyone else. We've got the manager we wanted, lets celebrate it.

No chance. You should know by now all Villa supporters have a six pack, not to mention a shirt.
