as i've said before i'm not so simple minded enough to get my knickers in a twist about anything Dave Whelan has to say about us.
i dont mind the bloke, thats true enough
but the thread says Dave Whelan, doesnt give rules and regulations as to what we should be saying on it.

dont get me mixed up with the sheep mentality mate, i'l always post honestly whether you like it or not.
i was only responding to your post about me the last time, if you dont like my response dont post about me.

as you said,  simple as that

OooooOOOOoooooh! I've got my own opinions thanks, no need to get personal.

The fact is that lots of people think he's a twat and want to express it, if you want to call everyone who holds that opinion a 'sheep' and 'simple minded', then crack on. Your suggestion on another thread that the multi-millionaire Dave Whelan is somehow an underdog is laughable by the way.

i think your letting Whelan upset you more than you should mate.
yes he probably is a bit of a twat, so why bother whith what he says

Wigan are underdogs in footballing terms which is what we were discussing

Just heard his quote about Martinez not going to Liverpool because of maybe having to work under a sporting director..

I don't care what he says that much really, I just don't know why he has to comment on the Villa at all. Also, I have very firm opinions on the capabilities of Martinez, leading me to think that Whelan is either a) on a wind up (and if so, fair play to him), or b) living in a fantasy world.

Also, you seemed to be supporting Whelan in your other comment, rather than Wigan itself, which is why I brought it up. I don't want to argue with you over Dave fucking Whelan, I think he's a silly old tool, you don't, fair enough.

I'm not up to date on the Liverpool saga, wasn't Louis Van Gaal going to be sports director or something?

Whelan is apparently traveling to Nevada, Area 51 to negotiate with an alien football team for Martinez.
He is far to good for any team on this planet!! Bollocks!

Heavily rumoured, but I think they could have installed Roberts Mugabe as a sporting director and, if he had been offered it, Martinez would still have taken the job. I might be wrong though - he might want to stay at Wigan his whole career.

He's a gobshite, just like Redknapp. Match made in heaven if you ask me. They could sign Barton and complete the set.

Noisy.

Whelan just cant help himself, just onto Martinez I was thinking earlier that it dosent say much for him that he keeps turning down jobs to stay at the mighty Wigan, it smacks of a lack of backbone that he wont test himself at clubs with higher expectations, I will have a little chuckle if he and Dave end up in the championship at the end of next season.

Meh. He's trying to maximise the value of his 'talent' at our expense. Stuff like this doesn't bother me as he'd kill to swap club stature with ours.

File it away along with Holloway's comments.

It does matter what Whelan says. SKY for one is happy to give airtime to him to say it; it can and does add to negative perceptions of our club. It does do us harm.

Whelan is doing Martinez no favours at all. By his own mouth it was Martinez who approached Villa this time round, only to be told 'no thanks'. As far as I know the only thing that has changed since our initial (private) approach last season is that ~Whelan has used contact between the clubs to big-up himself, Wigan and Martinez at Villa's expense. The 'no thanks' was not surprisng.

I'd agree with the poster who said his most likely next job is going to be at somewhere like Smethwick. His time for an eye catching move may well have passed.

If Whelan is a poor man's Doug, maybe we should send them Doug as a special favour to educate Whelan as to proper etiquette,[and how doug won the war, established the package holiday trade, saved Good Hope hospital, won the European cup, etcetc]. Perhaps the threat of Doug may shut windbag up.

If they worked together, I reckon Whelan and Harry Rubberface would paint the town red by trying to outdo each other with quotes!!

On a serious note, I'd like Villa to clarify the situation at the press conference regarding Martinez, hopefully to shut Whelan up.  That said, Villa are unlikely to stoop to that level. Sometimes I wish they'd be more open with the press and stick up for themselves against the media whore like Dave Whelan.
