You notice that there's never a counter quote from VP to DW? The PR and communication is dire except when they're desperate for season ticket sales.

Your idea of good PR is Villa saying, "Dave's a twat, we're  a massive club" ?

Don't argue with a twat. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yes, OK, you're right

If they worked together, I reckon Whelan and Harry Rubberface would paint the town red by trying to outdo each other with quotes!!

On a serious note, I'd like Villa to clarify the situation at the press conference regarding Martinez, hopefully to shut Whelan up.  That said, Villa are unlikely to stoop to that level. Sometimes I wish they'd be more open with the press and stick up for themselves against the media whore like Dave Whelan.
I'm sure that the (hoped-for impending) Villa press release will say that the only offer they made has been to Lambert.

Martinez seems to have been considered for one or two jobs during this close season: he appears not to have been offered a move-opportunity and is thus probably staying with his Grand-daddy for another season.
As several have said, he may well find staving off relegation more difficult next season, particularly if the likes of McCarthy, MacArthur and Moses get poached over the summer.

He's just desperate for Lambert to be confirmed at the Villa and Rodgers to be confirmed at 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' - that way he'll keep the world's greatest ever Manager since Paul Jewel.

If either falls through, I'd expect Martinez to again throw himself at the feet of both Clubs faster than you can say senile old bastard.

I've been reading and writing to finnish football forum, and there's quite a difference on reaction with Villaforums (This and VT) and with the finnish forum toward Whelan and Martinez...lot of the people there seems to be liking Whelan for some reason because he's "outspoken" and happy that Martinez is staying "out of loyalty".

Edit: Liverpool fans never change though; finnish Liverpool fans are as deranged and delusional as the UK ones.

I don't believe he is staying 'out of loyalty' though.  I think both 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' and the Villa deemed he wasn't what either were looking for - Whelan can spin it all he likes but there's a a big difference.

Nah, well, I think quite some Villafans are actually glad that he's staying in Wigan but happy for different reasons than finnish forum people :P

So Liverpool have confirmed that Rodgers was the only person offered the job, confirming what we already knew that Whelan is a complete and utter bullshitter

He is still banging on about Martinez not being happy with the working conditions at Liverpool, therefore still suggesting he was offered the job. I would imagine he will try to make out we offered him the job too. The bottom line is he has kept his manager. It would be nice if he got on with things and stopped talking about other clubs.

He's making Martinez look like one of those dipshit sixth-formers you see every summer in the Daily Mail, who got three A's at A-Level from some private school in Surrey but still got rejected by Cambridge University.

And you look at the picture of him with his pushy parents, looking all cross holding his A-Level cerificates, and you realise why he got turned down.

He used to do his SSN interviews by phone, now they appear to come from his place in Barbados. They probably just leave the cameras permanently set up there to save hassle.

A very irritating man who very much likes the sound of his own voice. He also seems to know what other people are thinking, he needs to learn that sometimes it's better to keep quiet. Empty vessels and all that.

I wish they would use his full name Allabout Dave Whelan.Because every interview is all about Dave Whelan.

Shame really, not sure why he is so desperate for self poblicity.
