Be nice to see him cry next year when Wigan go down.

I genuinely hope they do.  His time will run out no doubts.  I also wonder if Whelan is putting in the new indoor pitch etc because Martinez loved Bodymoor Heath?

Listening to him on talksport. It sounded like Liverpool didn't offer Martinez the job and Villa only sounded out his agent. In effect Martinez is staying putt, cus he had no alternative. Whelan's just happy he's staying. I get the feeling Martinez will regret saying no to Villa, when offered the job last season. Can't see Wigan hanging around in the prem for long.

Whelan's views do not cause me any strife. He's just looking after his club.

If they worked together, I reckon Whelan and Harry Rubberface would paint the town red by trying to outdo each other with quotes!!

On a serious note, I'd like Villa to clarify the situation at the press conference regarding Martinez, hopefully to shut Whelan up.  That said, Villa are unlikely to stoop to that level. Sometimes I wish they'd be more open with the press and stick up for themselves against the media whore like Dave Whelan.
I trust our folk at the top to do things "properly" which they have got stick for but also deserve credit.
The official club statement from AV last year made the situation very clear and was confirmed by Martinez himself a while later. At the time Wanker Whelan used it to big up himself, Roberto and Wigan by bending the truth. The press and public bought it and believed it. Still do.
For what it's worth Pat Murphy said that Martinez had contacted us, but we had moved our search on. Then big Dave says that Roberto has decided to stay at Wigan. What he hasn't admitted to is WHY!
Murphy also stated that Villa had approached Norwich through the proper channels but told Lambert he couldn't talk to us, hence his resignation, and them "turning it down".
I continue to have faith in our management, but as the Mrs keeps telling me "I know f**k all" ;-)

You notice that there's never a counter quote from VP to DW? The PR and communication is dire except when they're desperate for season ticket sales.

Your idea of good PR is Villa saying, "Dave's a twat, we're  a massive club" ?

Don't argue with a twat. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Whelan's views do not cause me any strife. He's just looking after his club.

That's fine but why does he drag us into it?

So Martinez is too good for us but not good enough for Liverpool - this doesn't leave him with many options?

Whelan just said Martinez didn't go to Liverpool. Commented about how he thought Villa are a good team. It's just his opinion that when Martinez leaves it will be to one of Europes great teams. I doubt it, but you can't blame him for hyping his manager.

The interviewer dragged Villa into it.

Brendan Rodgers gets the Liverpool job with a guarantee they will not be appointing a DOF above him. Paul Lambert considers Villa a big enough club to leave Norwich for. Somehow Roberto remains at ickle Wigan despite practically every other job in the PL being vacant. From what I've read he realised he'd talked himself out of the Liverpool job and started begging (sorry, got his advisors to sound out) Villa. Or in Daveland-

Liverpool were not the right club for Roberto in the circumstances.

Villa are a big club, but not big enough for Roberto.

Roberto will leave Wigan, but onlywhen the time is right and only for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Going by what Dave says I'm guessing Brendan and Paul will feel really stupid this time next year when Roberto is managing Bayern, Inter, AC, Barcelona, Madrid, Man United, or Chelsea.

See, this is why I don't have predictive texting on my mobile, I hate it when I type in a 'C' followed by a 'U' and 'Dave Whelan' pops up on the screen!  ;D

"Graeme Jones is too big for a club like Swansea, one day he'll be approached by one of the true Welsh giants, like Bala Town or Airbus UK Broughton, and when that happens I won't stand in his way."

Yeah, I can imagine getting a round of fucks for the amusement of some fans on a football forum is quite the accolade.

And please, can the "he's not worth it" party just piss off. We can spare a few insults for a nauseating old tosser if we want to.
It doesn't reflect on you and your time is your own. And you're not anything special, individual or noble if you dont wish to join in.

Dave Whelan has invested a lot of money into his home town club and is just protecting their interests. I can't believe some people are trying to make him out to be a publicity/attention seeker.

Tomorrow on SSN - How I convinced the canteen lady that Barcelona wasn't the biggest and best place for her to take herself and her hotpot recipe.
