Spoke to mate from manchester about Ole..He claims word is Fergie told him to blank us as a poor career move; especially as he has him in mind to replace himself when finally retires. Football!!

Bollox! On the basis that moving directly from Molde to the Man U job is unlikely to happen. Where is the Red Nosed old bastard proposing is a more suitable interim club before he steps into his shoes?

if he's destined for Molde Trafford ( see what i did there) he will have to prove himself somewhere else first, he wont go from Molde FC to Man Utd straight away, to big a jump.
some thought it was for us, but we are willing to take the risk as we are at a low ebb at the moment

Fergie's job is like Benny Hill's will.   Everybody is on a promise.

Sat down with the family and talked about it is a standard cop out.

In the career of any man or woman who wants to get to the very top there will come a time when he or she has to say to the spouse and children "this is something I must do because I may not get the chance again.   I am sorry for all the disruption and discomfort you will be put through but I will try to make it up to you".

Agreeing to sit down and talk about it is like when somebody says they are "99 percent certain".   It's code for I have not got the balls to come out with it so we must have this verbal diversion.

Depends what you class as getting on.  He is a multi millionaire so money is not an issue, he reached the top of his playing career and he has only just started out in management.  I imagine he has a young family who must take priority which lucky for him he is able to do.

I read the posts in 'Red Cafe' the other night and they were about 60-40 in favour of him taking the job at Villa.

The ones saying good move were being very complimentary about Villa.  The ones against were more about staying in Molde as it was too early, etc.  Hardly anybody was saying he would be the next MU manager, which was interesting - general feeling was that he would have to have more 'big club' (including Villa in that) experience before the owners would consider him for the role.

They seemed to think that would be in about 10 years' time! (after Mourinho...)

He sat down with his family on Monday and they all told him they wanted to stay in Norway. In fairness, even if he wanted to come, the right thing to do at that point is to stay.

If I was him i'd have stayed there. Come to think it, even if it was me i'd have stayed there.

Bet he hasn't got Swans nesting at the bottom of his garden though as he ?

Well of course not .... he's not Brendon Rodgers!  ;)

To Villa 74, fair enough. You think it'd be acceptable to appoint a man who described us as a 'half arsed club that used to be famous' as manager. I disagree.

If you want to rake over the meaning of my 'club our standing' comment fair enough. We can agree to disagree with you there. But I cannot agree with you that somebody who could say that about any club could ever be considered suitable for the job of manager at the same club he had run down.

Regardless of our standing, even if we were a Wigan Athletic supporter, I would not want anybody who describes us in such terms to be ever considered a suitable managerial appointment.

Fair enough we have differing opinions. What I would say is he was trying to protect his club at the time not really that different to the Barry to Liverpool saga. In the heat of the moment he made a remark that hurt some people's feelings! Get over it that's life. That doesn't mean he is the wrong bloke to manager the villa. I like the fact he & his teams fight their corner, something lacking up the villa for the last couple of years.

I never bought into this going into football management after a successful and lucrative playing career just to pass the time and a reason to get out of the house.   Any man or woman worth a light does what they do to the best of their ability.   If they decide to run a whelk stall they want the best whelk stall in the civilized world if they go into football management they want to be the very best they can and pit themselves against the best.   The children's education and the view from the bedroom windows has to be subservient to that ambition there is no compromise.

Redknapp has money coming out of every orifice of his and his dog's body but you can be sure he wanted that England job.

The same family that lived in England 18 mths ago?

He bottled it, and tbh the more i think about it , it would have been a hell of a gamble, and probably too big a gamble. At least Lambert, Martinez and Rodgers have prem experience.

Tony Morley was worried about his lack of expereience, and i think he might have been right.

Any man or woman worth a light does what they do to the best of their ability.

And if you add 'being a father' to your list, he'd be making the right decision.
