I am not sure who advised RL to go for OGS when he did , surely with the mid season break coming at the end of May that would have been the best time to make our move , it all appeared too rushed , timing is everything and I am afraid RL and PF appear to have this wrong.

Yes, and everyone would not harang Randy for 'dithering' by not giving them a manager until next month? He only sacked the Scottish manager 9 days ago but you'd be forgiven for thinking its 3 months by the reaction on here. Besides I can't see how timing would change his family situation and desire not to uproot them.

It was that German chap.

Name will come...Klinnsman.  Or so several ITKers have said, over the last week.

He sat down with his family on Monday and they all told him they wanted to stay in Norway. In fairness, even if he wanted to come, the right thing to do at that point is to stay.

If I was him i'd have stayed there. Come to think it, even if it was me i'd have stayed there.

I said the same the night we were first linked properly, watching that documentary, and how idyllic his life is out there, I would have stayed put. Life comes before work, especially with kids settled and happiness in your surroundings.

It's understandable of course and he is right. But it is very frustrating for us and I'm sure also for PF/RL. They really thought they had pulled a stroke of genius in approaching him. It all seemed perfect and ready to happen.

It's a kick in the stomach. What's worse is this inescapable sense I have had since last night that we'll be looking back in ten or fifteen years and asking ourselves 'what might have been?'. I have no doubt but that at some point we will have to watch him be a success at another PL club and it will hurt.

Oh, only at the Villa. We are a set of fans that are destined to suffer more than most.

So he either stays in beautiful scenic Molde with its good schools and clean streets until he becomes a failure or becomes bored with shooting fish in a barrel, then what?

"You know darling, I really should have tried to make the grade in England"  "Okay Ole, let's see if we can find somewhere with nice landscape, good schools, no crime, easy access to good shopping, close to a major airport so we can pop home to see the grandparents"  "Here's a vacancy darling 'Manager wanted Wycombe Wanderers'    Perfect.   I will e mail them right away."

What it has boiled down to is that we were prepared to take a chance on him but he was not prepared to take a chance on us.   To have made the grade in the Prem would have required a level of single minded commitment from him he is clearly unable or unwilling to deliver.

Maybe the timing was just wrong and that's all it was. He's only been back over there 12 months and i think he wants to win Molde the title again, maybe to show everyone it was no fluke or that he's not a one season wonder. I don't think he'll see out his contract there though.

Sat down with the family and talked about it is a standard cop out.

In the career of any man or woman who wants to get to the very top there will come a time when he or she has to say to the spouse and children "this is something I must do because I may not get the chance again.   I am sorry for all the disruption and discomfort you will be put through but I will try to make it up to you".

Agreeing to sit down and talk about it is like when somebody says they are "99 percent certain".   It's code for I have not got the balls to come out with it so we must have this verbal diversion.
