I'm quite surprised that the BBC are running the story with the emphasis on him not being offered the job, only the having talks part. I know those are the facts as we know them but I fully expected the 'Villa turned down by Norwegian rookie' bullshit.

Apparently you have to quote their name exactly otherwise they don't exist........

Other than that you're backing up my point.

Not really, I'm saying certain people were rubbishing ITK's on here days ago and well before you came blundering in accusing everyone of being to blame for it. You then moan when we have linked to journalists or other claiming to be ITK. If people have posted stuff from others them blame the original sources, not the linkers. Look, if you are angry at people because you have bet big on OGS, I'm sure you aren't the only one.

Sorry in advance, guys.

Just to stir up a bit more, I just have to point out: OGS have not yet confirmed this himself.

And a quote from GaztonVilla about the OGS thread at VT:
Quote
Ok, I'm sticking my neck out here.. But here goes.

Do not lock this thread yet.

GaztonVilla has a very good reputation over there and since Friday he's consistently seemed sure that OGS would be AV manager. Take it as you want, it might be nothing to it, but I have hope still.

Is it not odd that there have been no quotes?

How is the media so sure that he's pulled out?

Do you think Reo-Coker was starving to death when he demanded pay parity with Ashley Young?

Ha ha ha, did he really do that?

I thought reading "OGS rules self out" minutes after a constant flow of "he's the new manager" tweets was going to be the big football "WHAT THE FUCK?" moment of the evening, but that beats it for me.

I knew he had a high opinion of himself, but crikey...

nice story but complete bollocks

Because the Villa press officer called them and told them.

For the media, that's gospel.

Quite why the general assumption is footballers and managers will move without a second thought for their families is beyond me.

Erm, because they stand to make millions of pounds from it?

So? Most of them are already loaded. And even if they aren't there is more to life than money you know. I'd put my family ahead of £ every single second of my life.

Do you really think Ole and his family are short of a quid?

But you're not a footballer are you?

Do you think Reo-Coker was starving to death when he demanded pay parity with Ashley Young? The vast majority of people involved in football are overwhelmingly driven by the idea of earning greater and greater riches, despite the fact they're all exceptionally well paid already. Don't underestimate the power of that.

Like all walks of life some footballers will be money obsessed. And bizarrely, when they don't show themselves to be money & trophy obsessed we call them unambitious and slate them for that. They can't win really can they?

Which is more important to you, money and your career or your family and their happiness?

What's more important to me is irrelevant though.

Just look at all the footballers and managers travelling around the world chasing pound signs. The vast majority will move their families if they get a big enough contract offer. I'm not saying OGS is one of them but suggesting he wouldn't consider us because he's happy living by the sea in Norway is a bit naive in my book.

I wonder if it was John pretending to be the press officer just so as he could get his tenner on?

No, it's not especially odd. People don't have to comment on things, particularly if we have a direct source on the information as we do from our own club.

It appears odd that there's been no quotes confirming this from OSG himself, apart from his "I'm sure you'll hear more soon..." and then Mat Kendrick breaking the story.

Perhaps they're just waiting until morning to announce it properly over in Norway. I'm not getting my hopes up.
