I'm still clinging to the hope that he will have a Ron Atkinson-like change of mind in the next few days and take the job.

If he doesn't, then if we find out that his Uncle Fergie warned him off us because of how we treated Alex's other pet, then i will be very angry!

This really is quite deflating and its hard to explain why.

Right, pick yourselves up. Dust yourselves off.
We're not going to let this... oh fuck it, I am gutted. It also makes us look like C U N T S!

Randy, change tac. Go and get van Gaal or somebody like that.
And give him a truck full of nazi war gold to spend on some idiots who are really good at kicking a ball about.

This isn't about money.  It's a man putting his family first, nothing more.

Sorry but it's about our current owner and chief exec being unable to deal with modern day football. They really are useless.

We don't know the ins and outs. We just have to wait and see. Hopefully it wasn't Randy's vision that was the stumbling block. Lets give the board the benefit of the doubt this time. Club needs to unite behind whoever the eventual appointment is.

I hope there won't be too much criticism of OGS's decision, he won't have taken it lightly I'm sure. Current employers can be persuasive when they don't want to lose you. Its all too easy to use the 'better the devil you know' , 'you're still young, there will be other opportunities' and 'think of your family' cards.

Absolutely. It's potentially the biggest decision of his life and he's right to turn it down if he isn't absolutely certain.

Oh well, time to look elsewhere...

In other news, can all these people on H&V with 'ITKs' and 'sources' please give it a rest? Anyone with any real information would not blab it on a forum. Well-connected people gain interesting information because they can be trusted, not because they're gossips.

As you were. And no to any of the merry-go-round losers, by the way. But Lord alone knows who we'll end up with...

Get a grip, man. It isn't heartbreaking. It is disappointing, yes, but keep it in perspective.

One thing I do think, though, is that the club will have been aware of the positive reaction to OGS and the degree to which it was because it was left-field thinking, promising root and branch change.

They're now in a situation where the man our fans were singing for on the last day of the season is going to look like a conservative choice.

If we're going for Lambert, then I hope to fuck we get him, because it really doesn't bear thinking where the search will lead if he ruled himself out.

Totally agree.

Nobody's fault that he had a change of heart - I'm hoping we don't get a situation where the new manager is seen as a 2 nd choice option- people will be upset and this change of heart is a huge shock as he had given every indication he wanted the job, I'm hoping lambert will now be offered the post .

I can see it being Simon Grayson. There's been no approach made for Lambert according to some ITK's on this site, not sure who else there is out there.

But were they the same ITK's that said OGS was as good as here?
Simon fucking Grayson! Do us a favour and fuck off! Couldn't even sort Leeds out. Bottom of the barrel ladies and gents.

Calm down mate, no need for that, I'm not sure who else there is out there. In any case, there hasn't been any other stories about other managers, we may yet be pleasantly surprised. Its only been ticking over because its a huge story in Norway, keeping it in the news.

I'm angry with OGS to be honest. I wouldn't want him now. I wouldn't want anybody unless they were 100% committed so he can lie in the bed he has made for himself now.

I think we all got carried away with the Solksjaer option as it was a genuine way to break the mould which has been set over years at this Club.
For once it looked like we were going to try a radical and exciting way to get the pride back in the place and I'm sure we would all as fans got right behind him .
What they do now is absolutely crucial, if they end up with a similar situation to last season settling for some no hoper who is the only one who accepts the financial constraints then we are fucked as make no mistake next season's Premier League will be even stronger than this season's.

Actually feel sorry for Lerner/Faulkner tonight
They went for an ambitious exciting appointment and they have been shafted I feel
We really need to show some support for the 2 of them now

And how do you come to that conclusion?

That is how it seems Dave, if you look at everything Randy and Co have done since they arrived they haven't got a clue about modern day football. From allowing Martin free rein to the last 18 months and their approach to appointing a manager.
