Not that I really care anymore as I'm convinced we are getting Solskjaer but that is about as un-MON-like as it gets. There ae going to be some similarities given that he spent a number of years with him at Celtic, but he's got plan B and C if A isn't working because he is more open minded than MON. Anyway, like I said it doesn't matter because this week will bring in a new era to Villa Park. Proper football, and a fresh new approach to how we play the game. Next season promises to be very interesting indeed as we watch the new boss build our team.

If as i am strongly led to believe the new manager is paul lambert then i hope those wanting ogs will fully back paul as he tries to leas our club back to where we belong!

Oh dear. Well lets hope we dont have to cross that bridge.

The last thing we need as a club is getting off to a flat start. I would get behind him, of course, but my enthusiasm would be very dampened. My biggest fear is Lambert would be MON mk2.  A bit more flexible but generally direct or counter football.

how can it be anyone other than ogs at the moment on the basis that we have made no other formal approach to other clubs to seek permission to talk to their manager? As far as I am aware no call has gone in to Delia or Dave and I'm pretty sure the media would be all over it if it had.

Its a good point. AVB & Rafa could have been sounded out on the quiet though.

In Dave Whelans case that would be a first. The man cannot keep his trap shut.

I haven't been excited over the Villa for years so I'm pleased to say the proposed appointment has got me buzzing again for the Villa.

Sign him up at the end of the Norway league season next week and this will be one happy Villan.

Of course they will. Even though I have reservations, he would be in my top 5 choices.

in response to californian villain of course they didn't tell me but PF would have to make a formal approach to Norwich and/or Wigan and both clubs - never slow at talking to the media - have flatly denied us making contact. As to the possibility of us making contact with AVB or the Rafa, I think that is unlikely, particularly in view of Liverpool's situation. The former would not, IMHO, join us, and the latter didn't want to last year, and seems to now fall outside the  young dynamic prerequisite. We all know that when it comes to the Villa, trying to establish the facts is like trying to knit fog,  the only definate news seems to be that RL and PF have spoken directly to one guy, OGS.

Speaking personally I'm backing 'might be great/might be shit' over 'probably will be solid'.

With you all the way on that Perce.
It's an imaginative appointment (if it happens) We can only hope it works out.
I would also hope we get a couple of decent Northern European players in.

If its not OGS then I fear it may all seem like an anticlimax.

How I've got so excited about the appointment of someone I wouldn't have considered a week ago is beyond me.

I think the new word for it is 'McLeishrelief'.

I still want Klinsmann though.

I think it's very plausible we've spoken to Martinez,asI don't think Whelan would have broadcast it this time as he clearly doesn't consider us a big enough club for his Roberto.I think Martinez would want us over Liverpool . Pelty also said there had been other impressive candidates. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes

OGS for me though
