Lamberts teams play far better football than mons teams, lambert is his own man and not a mini - mon.

I think there has been some pretty harsh criticism of Lambert on here.  Those wsho are slating the way he plays have to remember that a good number of the players he is working with were playing in League Two a couple of seasons ago.  Whose to say that he won't adapt his style of playing when working with better players?

Having read a few of his interviews, it seems that his experience of German football has influenced him just as much as his time at Celtic with O'Neill.  As this interview says:

"Lambert also said he believes his decision to take his coaching badges in Germany has given him a broader perspective in management.

He said: 'I wanted to learn something different. It's a totally different midset to what it is in Britain.

'I was fortunate enough to play there and live there for a bit, and I was fortunate enough to go back there and do my licence. I wanted to learn something different, so I didn't become the same manager as the next person in Britain.'

Still think he would be a good option for us.

That's all fine and well, but there's still no evidence to suggest he'll implement any of that football with us. Rodgers is also playing with former lower-league wonders, remember.

Not saying it is, but it's the sure fire belief by some that he will implement a long ball game that I don't quite understand.

It seems that OGS has a well defined philosophy regarding how he wishes his teams to play, as of course did Eck[just different] IRogers also has a defined philosophy. Many new managers just want to be managers , without thinking through how they want teams to play. An attack minded manager will make mistakes, but wont be boring or negative.............. and by God we have had a gutful of negative these past few months. I do not want OGS simply because he is not Eck, but rather because of the potential he offers. Rogers may or may not continue to greater success, Lambert may or may not do well again, it is arguable that OGS may well do equally as well, or even better.

At this stage in his career Solskjær=Paul Ince when he took over Blackburn. A bit early and a job that was too big for him. Let's not make the same mistake and ruin his career whilst we make no progress.

The problem with that comparison is that Ince was/is known to be a work shy arsehole.  “the Guvnor” he said he was too good/important to do his coaching badges and continually deferred completing them.  At MK Dons he was known to be extremely lazy and have little work ethic.

I’d say Solskaer is the complete opposite (at least from a reputation perspective).  From pretty much everything I have read it appears Ole has been studiously preparing for management for years, including when he was still playing.

Of course this does not mean OGS will be a success but I do not think the Ince comparison is fair.

Well nothing is certain, of course. All we can go on is what they've done previously. Solskjaer has played a very defined passing game, Lambert hasn't.

I agree with Damon about Rodgers as you would expect me to do.   When Swansea ran rings around us at VP I got the overwhelming feeling that everything was clicking for them on the day.   Big pitch, beautiful playing surface, demoralized opposition, demoralized home fans.   It was as though George Formby had been handed his ukulele.   Hand him a trombone eg Stoke on a cold wet January Tuesday night and the result would be very different.

I never understand this argument. Of course teams are more likely to do well when all other extenuating circumstances suit them. What about their victories over Arsenal, over Man City? How did Stoke fare against those teams?

If we are going to use gambling metaphors to evaluate the prospects of OGS, his chances may well be evens (50-50) but that is only for "success" and "failure" and both those definitions may be very widely interpreted.

Why I am so much hoping that OGS does become our manager is that the level of "success" that he has the potential to deliver is very much greater than the level of "success" Lambert, Rodgers or Martinez has the potential to deliver.

It is time for Villa to take a chance and not play the McLeish percentages game.

To use a card playing metaphor we are in a game of pontoon holding a ten and a six.   McLeish would always stick on that and hope the bank burst.   It very rarely did and he very rarely won.   We have got to twist and hope that we draw a five.   My personal opinion is that OSG is the most likely five in the pack.

Molde game on here http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/123611/1/watch-sandnes-ulf-vs-molde-fk.html

Molde winning 1-0. Some good passing play generally. Goal came from a long ball over the top which the striker got hold of and played it in the middle before scrambling over the line.

Demoralised team and fans? If you remember Brian the 3 matches prior to Swansea game were a very good display at home v Arsenal. A creditable draw v Stoke away and we beat Chelsea 3-1 at SB just 48 hours earlier.

The centre forward does not look too bad actually, and Eikram can certainly pass the ball.

I said I got the feeling that everything went right for Swansea at VP.   The important word in that sentence is "feeling".   The impression which was created in me is that on their day Swansea can play beautiful winning football.   To scale the heights of the Premiership requires consistency.   If Rodgers stays with them perhaps the next couple of seasons will deliver consistency.   I hope it does because they will deserve their success.

Eikram is certainly the main man in this team. Think Barry Bannan but consistently putting in good-weighted balls instead of 60 yard Hollywood ones. Striker looks alright but I wouldn't take him at Villa with our options.

Hopefully with a bit of good coaching Bannan will learn to do that as well. Two is always better than one.

Despite what Swansea did last season I agree Rodgers is not the man for us because when teams paid Swansea due respect they struggled and we will not give him the time to make bottom up changes.

Also with a bit of movement in the side he wouldnt have to look for the limited hollywood pass all the time.

I stand corrected aftab I forgot that mini purple patch in our season.   In retrospect I made a generalization which was not accurate.
