For some reason I am excited about this and I don't know why. I also don't know why people are so against it. We want a young up and coming manager that plays the game the right way, OGS ticks all the boxes. If he had just won the championship no one would care about his lack of experience and would be saying its an inspired appointment.

Guardiloa had only managed the Barcelona B team in the spanish lower leagues when he took over. I know their squad is 100 times better than ours but so is the expectation.

For me experience does not come into it, if he is the right man for the job and has a vision for the club and how football should be played then give him a go. He will surround himself with the right people which is one of the most important things for a modern day manager.

I hope he has not been told the Kevin Mac and Sid have to form part of the back room staff, they have both done a great job with the youth and reserve teams and Sid is a legend and gave me many great moment watching him from the Holte End but the club cannot be sentimental at a time like this. If the boards number 1 choice, who ever that may be, says he will only take the job if he can decide on all the backroom staff then so be it. No one man is bigger than the club.

I'm afraid I agree about Sid and K-Mac. I'd prefer them to stay, and they've got used to adapting to different managers, but if the new boss sees things differently then so be it.

Firstly, not many people are against it, even me.
Secondly, a word of caution. Bringing in someone like this brings risk with it; a risk we may be wise to take. However, I would think it a risk too far to consider dispensing with Sid and Kevin. Unless you meant them dropping back to reserve level / youth level, which I would agree with if the manager has a good enough management team of his choice.

We should not discount the fact that Molde are a very wealthy club backed with scandinavian aristocrats money.   In fact it has been immortalized in song.   Molde Old Dough.

Nothing is for certain is it? Any signing of a player or manager is a gamble. Just look at Collymore for us many years ago. How many of us thought he was going to be a massive hit? I'm sure Chelsea thought Scolari was going to be successful.

OGS is a really likable chap who was a excellent player and seems to still have that same enthusiasm. His ideas are fresh and it is something we need at Villa. We need a fresh start and this is a bold and very exciting choice of manager.

Lambert is probably a safer bet and I would be more than happy with him but there is something about Ole I really like and want him to be our new manager.

Any truth in this talk of a press conference this morning?

What talk is this Marlon?

A couple of people (a few pages back) mentioned a press conference in Molde being held today.

Apparently they are still in a meeting. Haven't even started training yet. The press conference was supposed to be at 9:45.

edit - OGS & staff have just gone onto the training ground, presser now at 11:30

I guess it depends if Sid and Kevin would see the reserves/youth jobs as a demotion. A clever and sensitive boss could sell it to them, I suppose. But my gut feeling is that K-Mac wouldn't go for it.

If OGS doesnt end up being the Villa manager i cant see him being the molde manager for much longer. just got this of there offical website

Røkke and Aker ASA has for years been Molde Football Club's most important and largest partner in several areas. Molde FK are eternally grateful for the contribution and support Røkke, his family and Aker ASA has shown us over the years. Molde Football Club regrets that Aker ASA has decided to reduce its involvement as a result of our Manager's actions. We confirm Røkke and Aker ASA's version of events and why Aker ASA has decided to reduce their contributions.

Molde's press officer says it's fairly certain OGS will be in charge for tomorrow's game.

So the club is siding with the sponsor, and effectively calling the manager a liar. I see.

i think thats the problem,
Lambert is the safer bet, the word 'safer' seems a tad boring now, like safe hands etc, we are ready to take the gambel to go back to safety seems a bit dreary

Is that press conference at 11:30 local or 11:30 UK? If it's 11:30 local, surely it's about to start now?

Sounds like he's going to be forced out of Molde - almost like they want to push him before he jumps.
