Not a bad technique for sounding out any other managers that might want the job.
Lambert might call us now rather than waiting for the phone to ring.

I reckon we're talking to him already. Still reckon he's the favourite

The Aston Villa board has embarked upon an interview process which will lead to the appointment of a new manager.

This process will be focused and consistent with the board's objectives which are to secure a manager who can help to reinvigorate the club and bring some vibrancy back to Villa.

We are aware that certain individuals have been linked with our managerial vacancy but, out of respect to all potential candidates and any clubs they may currently be employed by, we will not discuss specific individuals by name.

We will update supporters when we have more news.

So he has been interviewed then, not such an informal chat after all.

That's actually a good point, hadn't noticed that. I also don't think Molde's investors would be so bent out of shape if it was just a chat.
Interview PROCESS is the keyword in that statement...where does it state that an "interview process" cant consist of informal chats, formal interview and negotiations particulalry when there a number of candidates to speak to. Do you really want them to offer the job to the first person they speak to???

You are right, Process is the key word there, but you dont send a private jet for a candidate and his wife, just to invite him to an interview...

Rogers is only 39 himself, he may feel it's too early to join a club like Liverpool, he's got time on his side. Us on the other hand might suit him a bit better at this point. All that said, i'm not convinced he's the right man but the board might think differently.

He has said he is not interested in leaving swansea and wants to see the job through- he will not be coming here clampy.

I did'nt say he would be coming here, i just suggested that if he did want to move on at this stage in his career, Villa might be a better option for him than Liverpool.

Still i think they're after someone else. they sounded him out but i think they'll pursue elsewhere first

Randy flew his private jet out to pick him and his wife up just to 'sound him out'?

Still i think it would near enough be done and dusted if he was coming. What he said afterwards were not really the words of someone who's about to leave his present club. I think they have a  preferred choice but wanted possible alternatives after last year's balls-up. Could be wrong but thats my feeling

We were all fucked off with MON leaving 5 days before the season started, so why is it so hard to believe that with Molde having a game Sunday and then two more before they break on 28/5, that he wants to see that out rather than leave them in the lurch?

I don't bet, but if I did I'd be betting on Ole to be knew boss.

Jan Aage Fjortoft ‏@JanAageFjortoft
Dramatic development in Molde. The owner, Rökke, very angry because of Solskjær s trip to England. Withdrawing all his support and money

Jan Aage Fjortoft ‏@JanAageFjortoft
The fight between Rökke and Solskjær here in Norway is like David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson s fight some years ago.Just missing the shoe

& he is, by the way "Retired footballer. Anchor on TV and Entrepreneur now. Tweets in english - just a few in norwegian."

Sounds pretty crazy right now for Molde.

Sounds like Rokke has lost it. Come to Villa Ole you'll be loved here.

Didn’t someone say ages ago that they knew the man they wanted but had to “wait”, leading to the RDM and anyone in the playoffs rumours.  Ole could fit into that category too and Villa want to do the right thing by Molde.

Lets face it, Villa did not reveal this to the press as far as I am aware.  It was as a result of identifying his plane.

Indeed.  I can understand him being pissed off but his actions seem extreme to say the least.

but if its all kicking off over there because he'd told them he wants to leave wouldn't they put him on gardening leave or the Norwegian version (reindeer herding mebbe) Pelty's comments the other day seems to suggest we shouldn't get too set on one candidate and again that latest club statement seems to be hint similarly that the choice is not set in stone on OGS

You do if you are a multi-millionaire with a very tight time window to meet and speak to one of the candidates for a high profile job appointment especially if he currently resides in another country. Obviously it may have been quite impressive too from OGS point of view for Randy to do this for him and his wife.

Ogs may have burnt his bridges at molde and had better hope he gets offered the villa job after this .
I still believe ogs is telling the truth and villa are telling the truth , this is the start of the process and if the likes of lambert or di matteo are interested then why not speak with them and then decide on the best candidate.
