It's the most exciting thing that the team have been involved in all season.

If I wasn't such a twat and totally out of control after two pints of strong lager, I would heartily condemn this sort of behaviour.

Be honest, the two pints of strong lager don't make much of a difference do they?

Massive massive overreaction in my opinion. Don't see what's wrong with players having a few drinks on a night out. Nobody knows what happened inside the club, so why have a go at Herd? Yes, he's lost his temper, but it's only the media that makes it reflect badly on the club. If you don't take it to heart, then you'll soon see this stuff just happens - he is human.

I like to see it as a good thing - at least he's got aggression.

Yes, but that's the issue - it's now all over the TV / press, not showing the Villa in a good light is it? It doesn't matter what went on, the media made a story out of it (whether you agree or dis-agree with how they reported it), the outcome is it's not helping us one bit.

PS all this crap about Herd showing agression so he can do it vs Spurs...what? Is this the 1970's? Since when does agression make a top quality footballer? Football has moved past this 'get stuck in lads, give them a few kicks' attitude...?

I now follow Moseley home and away
I assumed he was dead, but if what you say is true, we'd rather you went elsewhere, racism has no place on this site.

I thought this was an odd comment from Collins

"I know I should not have been out in a club with my wife.''

Why did he have to mention his wife?

So? What difference does that make to anyone? Getting dragged into the media hype is ridiculous.

Football has moved past kicking people up in the air, yes, a long time ago. But it hasn't moved past getting stuck in. I made the comment at the end reasonably light heartedly... Herd shows aggression anyway IMO.

Three lads go out after a works party and get into a ruck with the bouncers of a local nightclub. This hardly ever happens. If they weren't footballers it would be a non-story

Does anyone know if the night club door is still in contract?
I think it could do a pretty good job in our defence.

Apparently the door told Herd that Mcleish is getting another 12 months in charge....!

To soften peoples opinions of him I reckon.

It's often the case that these instances are followed by notable performances.  Could it be that Collins does what has thus far appeared implausible and direct a header towards (and if we're really lucky into) the Spurs net from a corner this weekend?

Does anyone know how the trouble started?  I assume somebody asked them why they've been so shit all season.

Could be anything.  I imagine footallers are always magnets for people looking to cause trouble when they're out, owing to the perception of them being rich, flash and thinking that they own the place.  They're obviously free to go where they like in their time off, but really, is it worth risking a multi-million pound career by going out clubbing?  Most footballers careers last 10 years between the ages of say 23 and 33, would it honestly be a huge chore to avoid places like clubs for ten years in exchange for £50K a week?

Can't James Collins just go away? Is there anything good about him at all?

I'd gladly avoid Broad Street for a lot less than that.

Herd deserves a second chance and I accept Delph's mitigating circumstances (though going out at all at this stage is a bit of a problem really - how focused could they be for training the next day?). Collins, however, can fuck right off out of the club. It's far from the first incident involving this meathead of a man. He clearly lives as he plays - brainlessly, winging it, letting his aggression getting him in trouble. He's not really good enough as a player, he's a bad role model for the kids - he can fuck off.
