He's turning away from the ball expecting the player in front of him to volley it. Would have been incredibly harsh to give a penalty for that, no intent.
Except his arm was unnecessarily out wide, making his body unfairly bigger.
The guideline I got on my ref's course was that it does not need to be deliberate; if by having your arm out away fro myour body it deflects the path of the ball, the ref can and should award a handball.

But it's academic, since C'burg didn't.

Gabby's touch has gone.  The pace seems still to be there, but uninspiring finishes.  Cash in.

Sadly have to agree. His pace gets him to one on one chances but if I'm honest I always expect him to miss, and he usually obliges. Expect MON to come knocking in the summer

Thought they played very well. some good passing and gabby should have put us in front. Chris ****** has escaped couple of bookings as well as handball.

Wigan safe then

4-0 Wigan

The Maloney and Di Santo goals, numbers 3 and 4 are lovely. They appear to have torn Newcastle a new one in every single way. The are a very confident team right now and that starts with the manager.

Agreed.  We're looking at Bolton, QPR and Blackburn to slip up if we are going to avoid the drop.  Wigan will survive.

With Wolves at home last day, they might aswell stick them on 40 and say well done you are safe. It is Bolton, Blackburn, QPR and Villa now. A draw is a must here.

I'd agree that we've played reasonably well but we've allowed them chances, Dunne looks like there's a mistake or two in him and we have two on yellows.

Oh, and who's going to score for us?!

Stripeys will come out and throw the kitchen sink for fifteen minutes. We need to keep it 0-0 until about 75 minutes, then nick a goal.

Come on Villa

This is a massive half of football. Need to win to stay up as unlikely to get more than 1 pt from the last 2. The hope now has to be for QPR and Blackburn to go down.

It doesn't matter if it's deliberate. If I'm stood on the line, and a shot is smashed at me and it hits my hand. And I know fuck all about it - a penalty is given. Because my hand stopped the ball. His hand stopped the ball, in the box, it's a penalty. Almost every handball that's given isn't done deliberately.
It does matter if it's deliberate. It's an offence if it's deliberate. It's not an offence if it's not.

Bringing on Weimann towards the end to nick a goal seems like a likely tactic here.

Wrong - see my post above; can't be arsed to repeat it again.

If QPR and Blackburn lose their away games to top 6 sides then we only need a point.

I take it you'd like to see a more Dutch style of play at VP next season?

Jokes aside, I completely agree. All the other teams at the bottom bar Wolves have put everything into trying to score goals at the end of this season, and they're playing better and winning games. We're continuing along our planless anti-football and getting the according results.
