There's nothing wrong with fronting it up and saying "I was wrong" if proven so, but that doesn't make smug 'I told you so' posts any less childish.

Or how about those weird types (like me) who change their conclusions when the evidence changes?

I'm not in possession of a crystal ball, so I have to make do.

if you argue a point where there is a definite outcome like Relegation or Mcleish leaving then there will be those who called it right and those who didnt, winners and losers,

Blimey John, there aren't any prizes you know.

"Oooh, look at what you could have won, a speedboat!"

i know that,
but whats the point in spending days even months arguing about something, then when it doesnt turn out the way you said saying ' it dont matter anyway, your just being childish'

it does matter in the sense that what you said either did or didnt happen, and like i said the Mcleish leaving thing is still up in the air, so i might be fending of the brick bats soon, but thats the way it should be

Fair enough John, but it's not like it's even worth being chuffed about being right.  "We were marginally less pathetic than some people predicted".  Fantastic.

I work with the guy with the 'GET THE ECK OUT OF HERE' banner he wont renew while McLeish is there. He hates it when i call him fickle. Who is right?

Right or wrong, he's not being hypocrtical which is something. Besides this relegation watch thread will be far more applicable if he stays(which he must not).

That's his decision and I wouldn't criticise him for it. If the powers that be think everyone will just turn up and pay regardless of the quality on the pitch they are sorely mistaken. Especially in this economic climate.
At least half, no, more like 75% of the season ticket holders I know are not renewing next season whilst McLeish is manager. They will pick their matches if at all.

The others are just as fed up but will renew because it's a social occasion for them.

Ultimately it's down to him isn't it but my view is that, putting economic, health or, to put it bluntly, more important issues than just kicking a pigs bladder around reasons aside, I think renewing you season ticket after this season splits us into 2 categories of follower.

Villa Supporter: You like Villa and view them as your club, but you also want to be entertained and the footy has been a bag of shite, especially at home, it's damm expensive and cheaper match by match than buying a season ticket, the kit was late and you want to send a message to the owner.  So you wont renew but will expect a guaranteed cup final ticket should we make it and with that in mind will probably buy a half season ticket should we have a favourable home draw in the quarter final of the league cup. You wont feel obliged either to go against Wigan/Bolton at home.

Villa Fanatic: Even with the above and if McLeish is given a five year roll on contract,no money to spend and Bent sold you will still renew !

I'm not buying a dictionary while it still contains words beginning with the letters M, C, L, E, I, S or H.

To my mind, the "told you so, we didn't get relegated" nonsense now is every bit as pointless as the "every team is going to win their remaining games, we won't win any" stuff was.

"And to think, you people thought we were doomed to relegation" - said with safety just secured (and only on the basis of goal difference) seven days before the end of the season, and us nestled in 16th place. Bit hollow, no?

I'd forgive anyone for being convinced we were going down. We were certainly shit enough for long enough to be right in the mix.

no , sorry not having that,

as far as i'm concerned you stand and fall on H+V by what you say, its all there in black and white,
if you are wrong thats it you have to be big enough to admit it.

Take the prediction of whether Mcleish goes,
80% on here a few months ago said he was 'going nowhere' including you,
every one banging on about how he's as solid as a rock and Randy would never get rid, i argued long and hard that he was a dead man walking and he would be toast come the next season.

as time has gone on people have changed there opinion , which everyone is allowed to do,
but we still dont know, he might stay and in that case i will have got it completly wrong and will hold my hands up come the time and take it on the chin.

if you argue a point where there is a definite outcome like Relegation or Mcleish leaving then there will be those who called it right and those who didnt, winners and losers,

on relegation i put my money where my mouth is, i thought we had enough points in the bag a number of weeks ago, and although it was tighter than i expected i was still right.

if Mcleish stays, i will expect i few 'i told you so's' and i will deserve them, i wont be sweeping anything under the carpet, whats said is said, thats the way it should be in my view.

Crikey John, you're taking that all a bit over-seriously aren't you?

OK, then, if we're taking that route, I just want to tell all you former happy clappers that ner ner ner ner ner, I was right, we never did break the top four under O'Neill.

Form an orderly queue if you want to kiss my big hobnail boots, I'm off to print out all your posts where you told us we would, then I'm going to make you sign your stupid names on it.
