Freak results don't happen all the time. That's why they're considered freak.
There have been a few unusual results recently, granted but this weekend for instance, Wigan aside, was very predictable.

I'm not saying all the results will go how they are expected from here on in. That would be too easy wouldn't it. But the majority will.

To be honest, I thought the QPR and Spurs games were somewhat freakish.

I thought QPR would lose, but I didn't think they'd do it so GD-pleasingly and spirit sappingly for their team, and I didn't expect Blackburn to be so bereft of fight, they made our own performance at WHL look like Barcelona visiting Walsall.

It's pretty dangerous to assume freak results won't happen or continue to happen, but on the balance of things, it was a pretty good weekend for us.

Wigan beating Newcastle 4-0 was something I'd rather not have seen, but even with that, if I'd been offered this state of affairs on Friday, I'd have taken it.

"Freak or unexpected results" is what I said, and they do happen all the time. As you just mentioned, an unexpected one happened this week. And I reckon there is one most weeks.

They do, yet people are writing off our our chances of beating either Spurs or Norwich and putting the whole issue to bed once and for all!

I'm not writing them off but given our league record so far in 2012 I have to be honest and say i'm not overly confident of us winning either of them.

Neither am I, hence why it would be a 'freak result'.

What's less likely to happen - us winning at home to Spurs or QPR winning away to Man City?  Yet one is dismissed out of hand and the other entertained to the point where we seem to be trying to talk ourselves into believing it will happen.

I think we'll have to disagree on freak or unexpected results happening "all the time" PWS.
Again, I think that is a paradoxical statement but, no matter.

1 happened this week. We can cope with the odd one. Even expect it.
It would take a calamitous glut of them to doom us now.

Not an ideal weekend for us, but the games are running out and we'll be fine. Wigan made up two points on us, we added a point to our gap over QPR, the gap between us and Bolton stays the same. Blackburn, as we expected, are falling behind.

One place left now. I think Wigan's momentum will take them above us, while Bolton will overhaul QPR (Stoke and Man City? Don't fancy them) - it'll be Blackburn and QPR to drop, I think.

If there were five games to go, I'd be seriously worried but the games are ticking by, and without us doing an awful lot to help ourselves, we're slowly getting there.

I think it was a good weekend , of course if was nothing to do with us as usual ,    but blackburn and QPR got well beaten and look terrible and thats another game gone .   Blackburn are down  , in fact I think Wigan will probably win at Ewood .

Surely a 'freak result' is John Merrick getting his tops and fingers with Kelly Brook.

No, a freak result in proper terms this season is an Aston Villa win isn't it?  :-[

Talking of freak outcomes, someone said (cant remember who) on one of the threads that they bet the goal that saves us comes from a corner.

I reckon that's going to happen, too.

As sure as Fernando Torres will score the winning goal in the FAC final on Saturday.

We're been crawling our way to safety all season. I still see Blackburn and QPR joining the Dingles but now with Wigan overtaking us.

We will have to agree to disagree. Unexpected results happen pretty much every week, in your example of the results being predictable there was 1 aside.

My definition of "all the time" in football terms is something that happens most weeks.

How many corners are we up to now without scoring ?
