Like I've said I've seen Norwich play good football, I'm confident that Lambert can do that and develop moving forward. Let's all rewind to before we played Norwich and the horror most of us had at potentially facing another year with Mcleish, then think how happy we should be with Lambert

Until he proves he can change his fundamental approach, I will remain fairly sceptical. A little jealous of the Baggies who have got themselves quite a manager (if, as it looks, they do get him) in Rangnick. He's precisely the sort of candidate I'd have assumed Villa were looking at.
A run down bloke who gets sacked a lot? Do you not think the board would see him as a GED style risk? I am delighted.

Well in fairness, not literally Rangnick as he has GH-type health problems which will probably surface again and have probably cost him a more prominent place in management already. I meant, however, someone with a track record in playing good football. I've still yet to see this from Lambert, and nobody neutral seems willing to say that they do play good football, often calling Norwich 'pragmatic' and 'tactically sophisticated', which doesn't sound all that exciting to me.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but Villa in eighth seems like Lambert's glass ceiling to me, and the appointment smacks of a lack of imagination.

I was like you on Ralf Monty until I did more digging. At the higher level, Rangnick has done ok, but not amazingly well and has ended up getting the boot. I think he needs to prove he is over the fatigue thing too.

I am more comfortable with Lambert now. He seems to have a mean streak, but I want him to put his own assistant in place ideally. With his poor defensive record I would like Steve Clarke in with him.

That is exactly how I have rationalised it now. And they played us off the park with out 7 defenders on the final day.

I don't understand that the fact they wont accept it while talks are on going. If we quit talking for an hour with Lambo will they accept it? It's weird.

Just offer them compo and get him in.

Like I say, not Rangnick specifically. Above all, he has to prove that exhaustion syndrome hasn't cost him his career, which is sad, because it's clearly that which has held him back in and out of jobs. Anyway, that's another subject.

In fact, one of the most appealing things to me about Lambert is that poor defensive record. Nobody can say Norwich didn't attack last season, and I've always said that if it were finishing 8th having scored 38 and conceded 37, or finishing 10th scoring 72 and conceding 71, I'll pick the latter every time.

The fact that he has formally resigned probably means that he's reached a satisfactory outcome in his talks with us. So, NC's rejection of his resignation is their 'play' on the compensation front.

Great point. Not only am I looking forward to next season now,  the close season and potential transfer targets have become interesting too. Three weeks ago, I was dreading 2012/13 and anything to do with it.

I'm happy.

I'm not in the "we should be thankful he isn't McLeish" camp however, because I still think we deserve a talented man managing our club. He's done great at Norwich, really really great in fact and he looks like he can be a right bastard when he wants to be. I like that.

Finally us fans can look forward to some stability for the first time in years. MON always felt like he could have left at any moment; Houllier may as well been on a drip and McLeish...... well..... McLeish.

It's worth taking into consideration that Norwich had injury problems with their preferred centre halves for most of the season.

True, but the best-drilled defences can cope better with the loss of individuals. Anyway, like I say, I'm not particularly bothered about defending at this stage. Let's score some goals first, then see how we can protect what we have, not the other way around like last season!

I think players like Stephen Ireland are in for a shock with Paul Lambert about. Shape up or f**k off.
