Anytime you're Lambert way
Any evening, any day,
You'll find us all doin' the Lambert walk.

Ev'ry little Lambert gal
With her little Lambert pal,
You'll find 'em all doin' the Lambert walk.

There's one for the teenagers!

Well Lambert coming is not going to get me excited, just MON mark 2 for me.  Another example of RL and PF not getting their man i'm afraid.  Nothing vibrant there and not that young either.  Lambert plays a fair bit of direct football too.  As for Grant Holt, if that is the best Lambert can come up with then he needn't bother coming.  We have just got rid of one 30+ striker we dont want or need another thanks.  Don't forget his team were one of the few we managed to beat last season, the late goal from Holt flattered them that day at VP.

Oh dear another opportunity missed can't see his appointment making any difference to crowds next season either.  I hope he comes for talks and decides its not for him I really do.

Given that he's the favourite in every poll I'd say he's exactly the man they want and will do a lot to increase crowds.

Given that PF said they were looking for "young and vibrant" in what way does Lambert fulfill either of these criteria?

He's 42 and got two successive promotions.

And managed a team who finished top of the long ball league last season

The fact that he is young. And the fact that he has just achieved back-to-back promotions and taken a team expecting to be relegated to their highest finish in two decades. Despite spending a fraction of the money available to most other teams in the division.

He quite clearly meets both criteria in full.

Will Lambert be happy that he is only first choice target after we have been rejected by OGS, Martinez and waited til Rodgers has made his choice.
If I was him I wouldn't be convinced.
FFS, stop looking at the negatives!
Lambert will be happy if he signs for us! End of.
If he doesn't, well there you go: it obviously won't have been right!

Holt didn't score that day.

Apologies for my mistake but he is still a striker we dont need nor i would think would be wanted by most supporters.

If Pobgregnyak (sp) is on a free, I'd rather have a look at him than spend silly money on Holt.  As for the increase in crowds, I think Villa could have appointed Fred West and we'd get better crowds next season than last.  The football cannot be any worse under Lambert than McLeish, even if it's just for the fact that the guy hates losing.

I'm not convinced any of what you say is accurate.

And managed a team that who finished a helluva lot higher than us last season, with - some say -  a vastly inferior squad of players. Get off his case and get behind him!

I may be on my own here but I like Holt, I think he caused us massive problems at their place, he's handy in the box, let's face it Agbonlahor has hardly pulled up any trees and he'd be a good option on the bench

Scored his goal with MASSIVE HANDS actually

We will agree to disagree on both of those dfinitions of young and vibrant then Dave

How young do you want your manager then bearing in mind he is only 3 years older then OGS? Yes AVB is 34 but that seems to be the exception rather then the rule. Also can you tell us your definition of vibrant.

Re the last few posts:

They didn't say young, just vibrant.

Norwich won something the last TWO seasons - promotion.

There's no shame in a third division side comfortably surviving in the Premier League playing a few long balls.

Fred West was a Villa fan.

I wasn't aware we had already offered 3 people the job.

You aren't aware that we haven't either are you?

If it is Lambert then OK with me, I have read a lot of different views and opinions and everyone has a right to express their thoughts. I predict that next season will be better but such is the money bias of the Premier League it will be hard to win something, a good couple of cup runs have to be our expectation. As for Lambert and long ball tactics, good, I see no value in watching defenders pass the ball between themselves for minutes on end, unless things have changed a team scores more goals when the ball is in the opposition 18 yard box, the quicker you get it there the better. A lot of bovine poo is talked about nifty inter-passing in areas where it doesn't count, looks pretty but it bores the crap out of me.
