Lambert it is then.

Looks that way, but if he was first choice, why has it taken so long ?

Because we had to discount two other first choices.

Informal talks ie he wore his flipflops and a pair of sunglasses perched on his head

It was nice weather by the time we flew him over.

Sky is yammering on that Lambert is now our first and only option. Formal talks to be held in the next 24-48 hours.

They don't know a damn thing.

Far from convinced he was 1st choice but the right man for the job in my opinion and thats what matters, i believe we will have a decent few years under him so lets enjoy the ride.

I still want OGS  :'(    We never get our first choice, just left with sloppy seconds!

That's if you assume we made a direct offer, or even interviewed him, which we didn't.

Who knows about the offer, but we definitely interviewed him.

We didn't - we held informal talks.

a four hour meetings with his wife and agent present = job interview; the informal bit would be phone calls/emails etc leading up to the meeting, Anyone describing it as "informal talks" is trying to downplay it,

Nice one!

Essentially, it's either Paul Lambert or somebody else that the press can't think of whom they are describing as Mystery Manager or such.

Rodgers to Liverpoo, Martinez to ... errrr ... Wigan!

I think contestant number three got a new job this afternoon.

So contestant number one will be rocking up at Villa Park soon then, now that both contestants two, three and four are rule out? :-)

Thought Rodgers had turned Liverpool down.   He would be my number one choice!

At least it looks like it won't be Rangnick. Which is nice.

I think we let him have a holiday before offering him the job. When we dragged McLeish from Corsica it was bound to end in tears...
