It does'nt make any sense for Martinez to stay at Wigan. All this speculation, and him talking to 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' for him to stay put. Just can't see it.

I just don't see the fuss about Martinez, he keeps Wigan up by a gnat's whisker yr on yr which is a reasonable achievement, but pales into insignificance to Di Matteo's achievements at Chelsea this yr.  I wonder whether Chelsea fans would rather Di Matteo was appointed after he won them the Champs League or they appointed Wigan's manager after another yr of struggle for them?

With Rodgers out of the running and Villa down to three candidates can we get a new poll? If we pluck Lambert than Martinez may have no choice but to stay. I think either manager will be an improvement over last year but we still don't have the on-field personnel to 'succeed' in the Premiership.

Would chelsea fans want RDM in any other circumstances ?

I see that Graham Taylor has relinquished his Non Executive Director role at Watford.

Upstairs job at Villa. Any thoughts?

(just speculating)

The fuss is he's probably going to be the new manager.

That's right, Merv.

No disrespect, but Merv got to the point. Could not understand your ramblings. On saying that I still disagree, as a fan if you happy to settle for mid to upper table and a dabble in a cup then perhaps Mcleish was the manager for you. Personally I want us to compete and not make up the numbers, otherwise we just might as well not be there.
I didn't say I was happy to settle for mid-table and a cup, but it would be a start, and a massive improvement. I am sure you agree and understand that my friend :)

Liverpool is a bigger club than us and has bigger expectations, i dont understand how people can think we are int he same league?

They spent 18m on a right back! our highest transfer record is 18mil...

They won a cup and finished in the top half and the manager got sacked - if McLeish had picked up a few more points i wouldnt be shocked if he was still here

they have a huge fanbase world wide, bringing in huge revenue, think we signed up 300 people to our hong Kong aston villa fan club!

they have a phenomenal history that completely overshadows ours...

I hate the scousers probably more than most... I live in Manchester but they are bigger than us with bigger expectations...

Oh that's ok then, we should probably give them our transfer kitty to make sure they win then. Christ 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' were unbeatable in the 70's, yet we beat them 5-1 and 2-1 and they were giants then. Showing these people to much respect. We are one good manager away from them, that's all.

Absolute rollocks!

Does that mean Wigan are one good manager away from equalling Man united in stature cos they beat them a few weeks ago?

I cannot believe there are villa fans that are deluded enough to think we are one good manager appointment away from Liverpool!

They are getting over a few bad managerial appointments same as us...

However

To Villa it means relegation battle and for Liverpool it means league cup and no champions league

Yes, but only after we've appointed a new manager and it were to get said appointments blessing. Sir Graham knows the game inside out. I know his 2nd stint was a disaster and he signed some absolute turkey's, but in fairness to him, he was probably bought in because he was one of the few who would have taken the job on under Dougs remit at the time. And that was to, like now, balance the books after an outlay that never brought us the success required to get that money back. He had a tough task on that budget. You could never question the guys knowledge.

He's 67, he's probably looking to get out of full-time football and Randy's already upset him.

Rollocks, your talking crap. The more people who distance ourselves from teams like 'The Mighty Reds YNWA'. especially teams like 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' then we might as well stop going down the Villa. Your talking like a star struck teenager. 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' are catchable, shit you will be saying spurs are legendary next.

Some geezer on VT reckons a former player has said today we are in talks with Martinez and the third mystery candidate is Capello.

Capello with a younger Anglo/Italian speaker like Di Matteo or Zola (Wilkins?).
I think I'd take that.
