I'm still expecting our third, mystery managerial target to be the Aston Villa Boss.

I'd like to wish our new mystery manager All Very Best wishes.

I see graham taylor has quit as watford chairman, wonder if he could add some experience to the villa boardroom- i think martinez is in pole position for the villa job but if he turns it down i hope we will see lambert swiftly appointed.

Two decent managers and either would be a huge step up on mcleish.
This is interesting...

Truth is no one seems to have the foggiest idea who's really in the frame.

From the Evening Mail article linked above:-

Aston Villa have whittled their wishlist of managers down to just three, with Paul Lambert and Roberto Martinez named as two of them.

Is that right and it's official they're in the frame or are they just taking liberties with the phrasiology?

I don't know, John; I didn't even think it was known that Lambert has been approached/is on the shortlist. Not even sure there's anything official about that we've spoken to Martinez either. I might have missed something, but still the only coach I know for sure that we have met was OGS!

The thing I will say in Lambert's favour is that he attacks pragmatically, but he definitely attacks. They scored and conceded more than Swansea last season, for instance. I just hope he completes the adjustment of his style if he comes here.

Rodgers will struggle at Liverpool. Their fans will demand the title, it is too big a leap for someone so inexperienced at this level. He needed a inbetween club, like Villa first in order to be able to gain the experience he will need. I do however, wish hm all the best.
Not sure I agree with your description of our club as an inbetween. Liverpool are in the shit, they have lost the experiance of how they use to recruit their managers. There is no Liverpool way anymore, and the gap between us and them is not as big as it was. So to describe us as in between is wrong. To be fair as a club we are as good as anyone for a young inspiring manager to join, develop and stay longterm where he can make his own mark.
Liverpool are a bigger club with higher expectations, and yes, they are in the shit.
So what are our expectations? That is more or less saying make way for Liverpool. Thats the problem.
no-one said that. Our expectation are a little less that a title challenge, I imagine.
Sorry my friend I disagree. We are in the same business as them. Winning something.
yes, however, If we'd have finished in the top half and won the League cup we wouldn't have sacked our manager...

True, it's my word of the day. I'll branch out.

Efficient, risk-averse, percentage-playing, utilitarian (tenuous usage, maybe?).
