When I see his Wigan side lose, quite badly at times, he doesn't strike me as having the mentality to go and bollock them in the changing room.  I fully accept we do not know what goes on behind closed doors, but that's just the impression I get.

Yeah I can understand that, but I get the impression Mcleish dished out a lot of bollockings and the response after half time was often legendarily bad.

That bit of man management/motivation can't make up for any technical or tactical deficiencies, but it can be the difference between say Wenger and Ferguson, for example.

The sad truth about being a Villa fan is that there is no entrance exam - hence some of the baseless opinions aired here.

Get the bedsheets ready.

i wish there was some sort of entrance requirement regarding understanding other people have different opinions and not having to describe them as "baseless".

And there was I thinking that the whole point of a messageboard was to allow people to express their opinion, baseless or not.

I think it is 50/50 on Lambert and Martinez N'Maz at the minute, although someone on twitter claims we have permission to speak to Lambert, and Wigan are maintaining the stance we have not contacted them over Martinez.

As I've said before, a side that only ups it's game in an emergency situation and consistently gets knocked out of cups by lower league opposition suggests a motivation issue. For all his perceived good points, that's what worries me about Martinez.

Having said that, my original post about him being a nice guy was more in relation to him being - and I don't want to use the term yes-man here -  easier for the board to control. I think they had their fill of the all-controlling type of management with MON.

Is it ever in that jungle Monty? But it keeps the conversation flowing. There is a hell of a lot of stabbing randomly in the dark.

Maybe we should change the poll to Lambert/ Martinez/ Mystery Candidate
