Any switch from 1-9-1 would be an improvement.

I'm in the Meh-tinez camp as well.

I also think that if it is him, then with a bit of nous the board could really spin this into good PR by playing the "he picked us over Liverpool because of the project we offered him etc".

Lambert 6-4/13-8,  Martinez 2-1/6-4, Benitez 8-1/9-1.
No one else in the frame.

I stuck a tenner on Ole at 16-1 last night. Already got Lambert at 7-2.
A tenner on Ole? Do you know something Brian? Will there be Norwegian style name changes again across this forum?
No, but it is too quiet, that is all.
I'd prefer Ole to make the right decision. He is the one that feels right, all round, to me.
Randy just give him yer plane! Simple.

What has Martinez done in the game that warrants us and 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' to be chasing him. I just don't see it? I'm not dissing the guy, but I just want someone to point out to me why this guy is regarded as such a good manager. I want to know so I can get excited if he is appointed Villa manager.

He laid the foundations for the way Swansea play now. I for one will be really happy if we get Martinez. I voted for him in the poll as I think he'll get a style of play embedded at every level in the club making the transition from Academy through to first team more consistent. He plays a decent style of football, isn't afraid of the 'elite' teams with 'different agendas' (copyright TSM), and is tactically astute. I think he'd be great for us in terms of both a long term plan and a short term fix.

I'd agree with that - he seemed to have trouble organising a defence, as well.

Although, to be honest, we've just had a season of playing terrible stuff whilst lacking a back bone, so even Martinez's thing would be an improvement.

At the same time Martinez's side, on their day, are capable of beating anyone, which would be a big change from the depressingly predictable dirge we've been seeing.
Yes on their day however stats prove, over the last 3 seasons, that on most days they are beaten by anyone who plays them! He has a win ratio of 26%.

Even Kendrick seems to know fuck all, he's running a re-hash of the same story..Lambert or Martinez, Personally I think Lambert seems to be the hard bastard we need but I just don't think he's interested. Either that or were not

He is not good enough for Villa full stop.

Well his poorly resourced side finished above Villa last year, so I don't think you can definitely say he's not good enough for Villa.

He's had a tough job at Wigan. Poorly supported team with not much to spend on players. I mean, ffs, Whelan is promising some money to spend on training facilities if he stays. Club on a shoestring which will plummet rapidly once Martinez goes imho

Potentially yes, with overall a better squad.

I like Gabby, but he can't be a promising young player forever; lately he looks like he turned into Darius Vassell. I think there's a good chance whoever is the next manager will cash in on MON's reported interest.
You have summed up my view as well perfectly CV.

And a shocking home surface to play football on at times.

Interesting Kendrick thinks there is a mystery third runner. Poyet or AVB is my guess.

I think he will.  Sooner or later he's got to start stepping up to higher challenges than keeping Megaphone Mouth in the PL. Unless - as others have questionned - he doesn't have any ambition. We wait and see.  Just out of interest Danlanza who is your realistic choice?
