Well quite. If he can get 10 goals out of NZogbia and him, Bent, Ireland and Agbonlahor into the same team and firing, we will score goals. Just the other end I worry about. It would be interesting to see him adopt the 3-4-3 he played in the last few weeks at Wigan.

I think Gabby may well have played his last match for Villa.

Why's that?

I like Gabby, but he can't be a promising young player forever; lately he looks like he turned into Darius Vassell. I think there's a good chance whoever is the next manager will cash in on MON's reported interest.

Stick him on the outside. He's better than Marc.

I think that's the first time anyone on here agreed with me!

Heh 8) Well the lad is a local born Villa man. We all want him to succeed but he just has never clicked into a top flight forward or even winger for us.

So yeah I think you are right. If MON comes for him we should sell.

Alas.

He's not going anywhere. He wore the armband last year and Lerner likes him. I agree he hasn't been nearly as productive as we need him to be.. but he's going nowhere.

Randy wouldn't sell a backpack full of AIDS to Martin O'Neill.

He did indeed wear the armband - because there was no-one else left! And he wasn't exactly an inspirational leader, so I think we can pass over that as a reason why he'll stay.

He also tweeted that he "didn't know 100%" or something similar.

I hope IF we are in for Martinez that he comes, as he is much more like what I want from a manager in terms of style of play. But something is nagging at me this morning that it is not him we are after.

Wigan fans on their forums don't even see us as a possibility, let alone him considering us. I can see another Whelan extravaganza on the way.

Gabby actually started last season really well, then got injured. For me it was obvious that when he returned he was still injured. I completely fail to believe that he lost 2 yards of pace due to "not being interested".

Whelan will soon be on Sky Sports telling the world how he knew that Martniez would not leave for liverpool and there is NO chance he will go to the Villa as they not a big enough club for Martinez, and the only club he will leave Wigan for is Barcelona!!!
