As mentioned in Mr Woodhall's latest article, the presence of Euro 2012 may affect the timing on the appointment of Villa's new manager.

This got me thinking (apologies if its already been discussed) as to whether there are any managers of teams in Euro 2012 who might be of interest.
Joachim Low?

His name has been mentioned a few times and out of all the "left field" suggestions, I think he is the best and most exciting candidate to be linked to the job.  He's done very well with Germany and has brought a lot of young players into the side.  There have been rumours that he is looking to go into club management after the Euros, but I would have thought he would be looking at Bundesliga clubs.

Slavan Bilic's a definite. Joachim Low and Laurent Blanc could become available if their teams don't do well.

you are getting me very excited now as i had £9 at 1000/1 on Lauren Blanc at betfair a week ago.

didnt think much of it at the time but then we do have a French conection with Houllier, i dont know if there is any relationship left there though,
and also the ITK bits about 'might have to wait' and the ' talks were going on right under the radar' so could put him in the frame
then this morning from MM about supprises and twists and turns.

anyway he's still 350/1 on betfair and between 33/1 - 66/1 on oddschecker if you fancy a wild punt

but i'm not booking a holiday to the seychells just yet

Didn't he describe it as 'a routine meeting'? They seem pretty busy in the transfer market, it would make sense for them to talk about that.

Yes I think it's SSN desperate for news again They've got it going across the yellow ticker Phil McNulty reporting it's just routine talks

I don't know why Wigan would need to have a press conference. It seems there is a team of cameramen stalking behind Dave Gobshite Whelan at all times like they're playing "What's the time Mr Wolf?". All he has to do is turn around and open his face again.

Laurent Blanc
Bert Van Marwijk
Michael Bilek (Czech Rep)
Morton Olson
Jochim Low
Fernando Santos (Greece)
Cesare Prandelli
Paulo Bento (Portugal)
Giovanni Trapattoni
Dick Advocaat (Russia)
Vicente Del Bosque
Eric Hamren (Sweden)
Oleg Blokhin (Ukraine)
Fran Smuda (Poland)

Thats all the coaches with the exception of Hodgson who has only just being appointed and Slaven Bilic who has agreed to take over another club. Most of the standout candidates from that list would be out of our league I would imagine, then there's the language side to also consider.

That seals it. Fran Smuda it is.

I'd loathe a 2012 manager appointment. anyone can have a great tournament and not be right for the job. Oleg Blokhin for instance is a famous old name and Ukraine at home will be competitive. If so, he will become a household name again and if our board are as inept third time round at appointing a manger they may fall for a Blokhin type love-in from the media.

I read he's cut short his holiday in the States to meet his chairman.

in the unlikely event that it is any of them, i think contact will already have been made,
and it will not depend on them having good or bad tournaments, we would only be told when the repective team goes out
