Anyway, Martinez / Lambert and Rodgers could be next years Paul Jewell.

I'd rather a bit more pedigree.

Vote for Benitez?

A side note ...........  I find it amazing that you all skipped over my ITK on Martinez from last summer.

Don't take it personally. ITKism has taken quite a hit on here recently.

As mentioned in Mr Woodhall's latest article, the presence of Euro 2012 may affect the timing on the appointment of Villa's new manager.

This got me thinking (apologies if its already been discussed) as to whether there are any managers of teams in Euro 2012 who might be of interest.

He works for a c***.

I put it on yest afternoon or so. Known about since it happened.

Basically, he said yes last year but Whelan stopped it with a ridiculous compo demand which RL said no to.

RM still has friends from his Walsall days round here.

I may well still be proved wrong but I am of the opinion that Martinez wouldn't join Liverpool over us. No Villa-coloured spectacles on, or any ITK, but just judging the man from what I read or see of him, I think because of last summers approach by us and knowing that we are interested again he would feel a kind of loyatly to us. We wanted him before Liverpool and I think that if he did choose to leave Wigan that would put us ahead of them.

Another thing I think we should move heaven and earth to get Steve Clarke as every manager that he has worked with has commented on how great a coach he is. As much as we need a man at the top we should think very hard about what it would take to get this number 2 in.

Slavan Bilic's a definite. Joachim Low and Laurent Blanc could become available if their teams don't do well.

Why didn't Martinez just resign then?

Billic has already gone to a club in Russia.

The new manager will decide who his number two is, the club can't/shouldn't try to force the issue.

Well we'd have been in the same situation as we were with McLeish, ending up paying the same compo anyway.

I thought Bilic had took over Locomotiv Moscow?
