I can't see anything on SSN about Martinez turning L'Pool down.
Go to Transfer talk then go to Paper Talk and it is on there. Maybe a rumour but the betting markets are backing of Martinez.

Apparently Whelan is ready to offer Martinez new training facilities at Wigan and £10 million to spend if he stays.

Thankyou.

I've got a feeling he may be coming to us
Not first choice but maybe the best of the ones that have been mentioned so far.
If he stays at Wigan,I would seriously question his ambition.Although I wouldn't blame him for not going to Liverpool,we would be a perfect move for him, assuming the rumours are true that we have approached him

Not my number one choice either but I'd take him compared to a lot of the nightmare names that have been touted on here

It's still Wigan

Does anyone know if Dave Whelan's glove puppet is still going to hold a press conference today?
Seems like he has turned Liverpool down!!Sky sports.

LOL!!!

As much as I dislike Dave Whelan, you've got to hand it to the man.  Two years running he's made bigger clubs look like mugs.

That's one view Risso, personally I take the view that he's just an arrogant, attention seeking knob for whom the words 'professionalism' and 'dignity' clearly don't apply. The man's a c**t!

I agree entirely, but in the context of it actually achieving his end result, ie hanging on to Martinez and keeping Wigan's name in the paper, it appears to be working.

Martinez is making a massive mistake if he doesn't leave this summer.
I think he is indecisive and lacking ambition. I don't want him around here. He can stay safe within Whelan's control where he is comfortable. Making his team a thrash bag for the rest of the PL for 90% of the season and thn winning a few games to survive.

Seems to me that Martinez likes being the big fish in the little pond...

Like the last few posters have said, Martinez isn't my first choice (Rodgers) but I could live with the idea. Having said that I still have a nasty feeling it will be RDM.

I won't be of the opinion Martinez lacks ambition until he's made his decision this summer. I can accept last summer he wanted to be loyal to Wigan, if he does get offers from Liverpool and Villa this summer and declines both then he does lack ambition.

Perhaps, but maybe he just doesn't think that Villa are that atractive an option at the moment.  We don't know what Lerner is offering in terms of funds to spend.  If it all has to be internally generated, maybe he'd rather stay at Wigan?

Fair summary.

It's funny though.Barry and Downing were both accused of being treacherous money grabbing gits when they left Villa, yet when Rodgers and Martinez display loyalty to their clubs they are branded as lacking ambition. It's a fine line.
