Friday seems optimistic to me.

He didn't say which Friday though did he?

I'm going for June.

Friday IS June!

The papers have given up guessing who this morning and are going with 'Villa to name new manager this week'. I can't help wondering if even the board know who yet!

Does anyone know if Dave Whelan's glove puppet is still going to hold a press conference today?
Seems like he has turned Liverpool down!!Sky sports.

LOL!!!

As much as I dislike Dave Whelan, you've got to hand it to the man.  Two years running he's made bigger clubs look like mugs.

SSN might just be right about Martinez turning down Liverpool. Take a look at Oddschecker his price is drifting right across the board with Brendan Rodgers odds on favourite right across the board all of a sudden.

I'd now almost like Martinez just to see how Whelan would re-act after his 'bigger clubs than Villa' comment!

That's one view Risso, personally I take the view that he's just an arrogant, attention seeking knob for whom the words 'professionalism' and 'dignity' clearly don't apply. The man's a c**t!

Yes, but Swansea and Rodgers have both confirmed that since he turned them down there has been no further contact! There is no point in looking at bookies' odds they mean nowt!

So...the favourite is a man who turned down an interview and has made at least one major signing for his current club since? Rodgers will be at Swansea next season.

But do we want Roberto if his every move is to the subject of self glorification by rentaquote who is 'like a father to him', and wherever Roberto goes Whelan will be available for comment, even if not asked. We win, Uncle Dave takes credit, we lose, ucle Dave passes judgement, the man is a parasite.

Dave Whelan has called Liverpool "clueless" in their search for a new manager and will be holding a press conference to say that Martinez will not be leaving Wigan. This "clueless" thing is a bit worrying. Does it mean that any club with an American in charge is "clueless"? If that is the case then we could be up shit creek with only a McLeish style paddle to rely on!!! Worrying don't you think?

It's worrying if you care about Whelan's opinion, which I don't!

It seems that American owned clubs may be "clueless" when it comes to dealing with people like Whelan!

Darren Bent reads the bible every day. That's the first bit of actual new Aston Villa news, backed up with solid evidence, that I've read in a few days!

My oh my - sell him now

We dont want anyone at our club who believes in supernatural fairytales

You say that, but I'm pretty sure some people expect AVB or Guardiola to be signing up as our manager, can't get more fairytale than that.

Martinez is making a massive mistake if he doesn't leave this summer.

I can't see anything on SSN about Martinez turning L'Pool down.
