I'm getting a bit fed up of checking this thread for updates only to find another quotathon in the court of the contrarian king.

I avoided the news for 24 hours. Just logging in now. Martinez seems to be our main target now?

So you behave dishonourably and excuse yourself on grounds of either pragmatism or "everybody else does it".

depends if you think its dishonourable.  People talk to other people about job offers without their employers knowing every day. Its only football they take this view, so against the laws maybe, but end of the day OGS or whoever is still contracted to their club and can't leave without their permission. And as i said earlier its not just about making it easier for us to get a manager, but doesn't force someone like rodgers to go out on a limb when we may not even be interested in him.

Quite honestly I don't care anymore, the board just don't know the first thing about appointing a top class manager, as they have proved!

Lamberts moved right in on the odds today. Under 2/1 started about 5/1.

I assume that if you don't care anymore you won't be moaning about it anymore, either.

A polite plea: can no-one talk about disasters, fuckwits, fiascos etc. at least until we have appointed this year's equivalent of McLeish? If we don't, then great!

None of the likely candidates, bar Lambert, particularly interest me at the moment. If we aren't going for Lambert then I would consider an outsider in the form of Rudi Garcia... won the double with unfashionable Lille the season before last and consolidated with Champions League qualification again last season. They play good football too (according to Wiki) and have been dubbed "The Barca of the North". Could be our Wenger...

I had a bit on Lambert last Saturday , so Ill be happy with him now . i reckon for where we are at , at the moment , Lambert would be a good appointment.

Has something changed regarding Rodgers and Liverpool then? Im sure he rejected talks with them last week, have I missed something?

Nah just me guessing that he may still be in the mix with them. I have no evidence at all.

Lambert would not be my first choice. But over Southgate, Martinez, Di Matteo, Hoddle, Curbishley et al, I'd prefer him.

Apologies. I had just typed a request into google and found a story but it turned out to be in the Daily Star...It's just filler I think.

I'm being optimistic tonight. I'm concluding that the longer this goes on, its because we're negotiating with Villas Boas.
