This is a tweet from earlier today:-

Ian Abrahams ‏@Moose_talkSPORT
Reports Roberto Martinez is in Miami - I am lead to believe it's for talks with Randy Learner over a move to Aston Villa NOT Liverpool FC

OK, He's a talkSPORT 'journalist', but could be plausible after OGSgate.

Dont think so mate. Not unless Lerner is wearing a John Henry mask.

Martinez definitely fits in around Miami. Wish Lerner had a little more brass in him. The little guy would never be caught wondering city streets while doing business.

The Villa job should be more attractive now than at almost any time in our history.

The squad and team have clearly underperformed recently, the outgoing manager was one of the most loathed we've ever had, fans expectations are rock bottom, and the owner is as soft as billionaires get.

Oh, and we're one of the biggest clubs in the land.

For any aspiring manager with ambition this is one of the best opportunities they'll ever see.

Definitely an ideal job for someone to ' have a go'. However, established or rated managers will think twice, due to the clubs limited budget and ambitions. Sad but true IMO.

I can see this. But I can also see:

- squad flirted with relegation 2 years running
- and shed significant number of senior experienced players
- ownership of club perhaps however still persisting with strategy whereby managers expected to work with what they've got
- very much unproven bunch of young kids
- fans that have turned against previous two managers an to an extent even mon

We had a fair bit of this Panglossian attitude last summer. We were going to get a top manager. Randy was going to splash the cash. My concern is that the board may believe a better managerial choice would lift the same group of players into the top half. A different choice would have done better than mcleish last year. But the current squad stands a very good chance of being relegated

Times journalist Oliver Kay claims this photo is a fake.

Has there been any credible sources that Klinsmann is consulting Lerner on manager appointment or is that just murmuring rumours?

you can tell it's a fake by the absence of shadow

If it was going to be curbs then surely they would have moved for him by now considering he's been out of work for fecking ages!

That's a good point and hopefully proof they don't want him. It really needs to be an exciting and ambitious appointment, to reinvigorate the club.
If Villa can't get the targets they want, he might well be the default choice.

Please, don't have nightmares.

Di Canio can fuck right off, nutcase.

I've read a lot of your posts Mr Winchagain, and I wish for once you'd just get off the fence and say what you bloody mean!  ;)

Agree on DiCanio, what the hell has he done to justify a top Managers job?
He promoted Swindon, but If I suggested O'Driscoll who manages newly promoted Crawley, i'd be rightly laughed off the site.

A facist prick to boot.

I have been to Miami, and photos we took had very, very little shadow, so not sure that is an argument. This is the same photo from 2 different angles and seems far too much work to produce if it is fake.

We are still being linked with the famous south american chap I see.

@JamesNursey: Looks like #AVFC  been holding out for Martinez (long shot) with Lambo on backburner as AV think they can get him (whatever Lambo says).

I cannot see Lambert being happy being runner up, if true.

If those photos are fake then someone has far too much time on their hands

@TimothyAbraham: Understand there has been no official approach from Villa for either Roberto Martinez or Paul Lambert yet. #AVFC #WAFC #NCFC

And

@TimothyAbraham: However, #AVFC board remain relaxed about the situation and happy with progress. They would rather wait and make the right appointment.

I think they're waiting for Liverpool to appoint
