No way to Rafa. He was really losing it in the last couple of seasons at Liverpool. He did good things but there comes a point sometimes, with some managers where they peak and hit a decline. I just don't think he's got it in him to have an impact in this league again. See Houllier/Dalgish/Sven. Rafa's time has passed. He consistently tried and struggled to get Liverpool playing like a Spanish side in this league, it didn't work. They did finish 2nd but he was never really ever in with a sniff of the title.

I'd rather have someone on the way up.

I wonder if anything is actually happening. All we hear is all the people we haven't approached.

We don't offer the job to anyone.. we just chat about so they can't turn us down. Either way we get rejected and the papers have a field day. Out inability to seek out managers is laughable at this point. We waited until late June for McLeish the last time around, I honestly can't wait to see who they think is a good idea next.

Again, I am expecting an extremely underwhelming name to be at the post next season.

I'm hoping the lack of noise is because we've kept a really exciting prospect under wraps and are just finalising it. I have my doubts though.

Laudrup was someone I wanted us to look at back in 2010.

He'd be an interesting choice, but I think I read somewhere that he's put off a few potential employers by insisting on a release clause should any Spanish team come in for him.

Anyone else thinking that this release clause thing may have had a part to play in the OGS saga? I really wonder what the point of contracts are if they are littered with release clauses.

Not FSW please. I would have rather have given McLeish more time than him.

Really?  Come off it.

Aye Rafa is a top manager. What kind of crack head would prefer McLeish to him?

He would be the safest bet but then he would require backing, however that applies to any new manager coming in.

Indeed. He maybe a bit of a twat but nobody can seriously question he is a top flight manager.

FSW would certainly be an appointment that could work well with our current squad, but doubt he'd come without a large investment in the transfer market.

reports Roberto Martinez is in Miami - I am lead to believe it's for talks with Randy Learner over a move to Aston Villa NOT Liverpool FC

No to Rafa. Never understood his baffling formation/changes. Dull footie.

I severely doubt that, given Whelan has said he's talking to Liverpool.

Whelan said you can only assume it is to meet Liverpool. Not it is for certain, but Lerner is here so unlikely to be us!

Eh, I think you are misinformed. The Red Sox are playing the Tampa Bay Rays, and Henry went with the team to Florida. Why would Randy be in Miami?
