You see, here is part of my Lambert worries. Remember how we poured over the insane utterances of the mad one from NI, this would be the same, but in much less understandable scottish grunt.

Not too worried what he says as ling as his team delivers on the pitch, interesting hes never committed himself to being there next season, always avoided the reply.

I'm in the not sure about Martinez camp. Just because Wigan finish seasons strongly doesn't make them a good team. They have been one of the worst teams in the prem for the past 3 years. Jewell and Bruce both got them comfortably mid-table and I don't hear anyone touting those 2 for the job. In fact you could say that Lambert and Rodgers have surpassed Martinez's achievements in one season.

I agree with you here. At the end of the day he's finished lower than those two with a better squad.

Wrong.

From a Wigan fan:

"Yes, we finished higher with Bruce in his final season, but in that team 4 players were crucial: Valencia, Palacios, Cattermole and Heskey - all were sold either in January or August. In the second half of that Bruce season we dropped like a lead balloon. Therefore Martinez came in with major rebuilding to do and without much money to spend. To say he's been backed financially is plain wrong. He's had limited funds from players that we've sold but has needed to massively cut the wage bill, which is what he's done. "

So ozzjim, who would be your choice and why? As I can't see a better option at this point in time - IMO.

If he wants the job enough im sure he will cut his hols short if necessary, if not then hes not worth approaching.

While randy remains over here theres always the hope that things are happening behind the scenes but i am impressed with the veil of secrecy surrounding things right now.

Sod this 'must have Premier League experience' bollocks. I'll have Rene Girard thanks. And he can bring Olivier Giroud with him.

That's kind of irrelevant, I'm not saying Wigan have a good squad. I just think it's slightly better than Swansea's and a lot better than Norwich's.

what i'm hopeing is that Villa and Liverpool are both going for Martinez and AVB,

we are playing second fiddle to Liverpool and when they decide which one they want we will get the other, i'm not to fussed which one we get, i would prefer Martinez but am not fussy either way

this is what i'm hopeing, but not what i actually think is happening

I think it's essential they make an ambitious/exciting appointment. The rift between the club and the fans needs to be healed and have everyone pulling in the same direction, an imaginative and exciting managerial appointment could do that. We need someone who will get his team to play passing, exciting football and that'll get the crowd off their seats.
