Didn't the 'statement' say we were no longer considerign him as opposed to him turning it down?
Yes No formal offer was made. We are still looking at other applicants and apparently there's lots. We move on

I wish the club hadn't said anything about OGS turning us down. Now anyone looks our 2nd choice when in reality it may have not been.

Molde are holding a press conference to announce it this afternoon. How were we meant to keep that quiet?

No need to keep it quiet . "He wasn't offered the job, probably wouldn't have been and besides he wanted to stay in Norway" would have been a better way to put it. You know Molde will paint it as a snub in their press conference

Christ Greg, sometimes you get yourself tied up in knots.

One minute "I wish they hadn't said anything about him turning us down", then minutes later "no need to keep it quiet".

They didn't say he'd turned us down, they said he'd withdrawn from contention for family reasons.

Your beef seems to be that they didn't add "probably wouldn't have been".

yep it is. as it stands its looks like we've been left at the altar again when we may well have been seeing other people too. play the game like everyone else ffs. Molde will for sure

Lambert was less than impressed at being asked about his future after the testimonial last night.
I cannot see him coming to us either, and the list gets smaller! why should he come to Villa when he is doing a great job at Norwich? I don't see it happening at all.

At least randy is already over here so lets hope he and faulkner can pull a rabbit out the hat and unveil a decent manager.

Listen, lets give Lerner and Faulkner the benefit of the doubt here.

As I said last night, I'm annoyed with OGS. I feel like he strung us along a bit. He was very enigmatic about the whole thing.

We have to support the club on this. We came so close to going down last season that we cannot afford to start off the pre-season in a bad way. I think Randy has been trying to get somebody in who will reinvigorate the club and I can't fault him if he doesn't succeed having first given it a good go.

Villa are still a big draw, but we are also a difficult job. We just escaped relegation so we're not going to be able to sell the whole 'top four' dream just yet. It's going to be a long-term rebuilding project and not every manager will have the stomach for what is involved.

the list is only small if you only look at a small group of candidates,
if you look at a bigger picture, which is which is what Randy was doing with OGS it could be  a very large list,
we dont know where he is looking, he might supprise us, in a good way hopefully not a Mcleish way, although that is always a possibility obviously

If randy had chartered a plane for ole rather than sending his own jet none of this would have ever been known about.

If the vast majority were in favour of OGS, the candidate that has the closest approximation to him (in terms of his football-side style) is Brendan Rodgers.
And he would move, surely, for the opportunity to ply his trade on a bigger stage.

P.S. I wonder if a passing mod could change my now-anachronistic and wildly-optimistic name back to EffDee (or, even better Mister E).

Thanks in anticipation.

Amid all this intrigue, how about if it's true and he or his missus just changed their mind about uprooting the kids etc?
