Grayson!! Offers absolutely nothing for me.

Must confess OGS did wet my appetite and apart from Lambert I'm struggling to get excited by anyone else. This is a massive test for Randy and Co now, the pressure is on.

I hope we may still tempt lambert but if not it's worrying.

starting to pan out worryingly like last year. If Grayson and OGS are the shortlist or a good part of it then its about time they got someone in who knows football to sort the appointment. Either that or what they're offering is so poor only the unproven and desperate will take it. Hopefully Grayson is another betting thing ala McCarthy.

Don't understand the football style debate. Don't see how anyone could suggest manure or spuds play similar style football to mon??! I'd love to see a villaside with that sort of movement. I never have

I'd pick Rodgers over lambert. Less sure that poyet has done enough to make him preferable to lambert tho.

If it's Grayson, curbishley, Bruce, McCarthy, macdonald, hoddle or Bradley I'll be very disappointed.

I think Martinez or RDM are over hyped and a risk, but could have potential and would be much preferable to the names above.

But both the previous appts were pretty unexpected and the wrong choices. We'll probably go for George graham or Brian Kidd.

I agree about the similarities to last season, but not about OGS greg, he has a certain pedigree as being a very good young manager in the game so clearly they have tried being progressive, as they did with Martinez last summer.

But we ended with McLeish last summer. Plus with the fan support OGS had, he will have had more scope than a Grayson who would have a lot less time with the fans IMO. Plus the difficult players, under OGS, he could have said right, lets settle this with a medal haul comparison and pulled on that experience, Grayson can't.

Nope, for me the next best option is Poyet at the moment I have to say.

I really hope we avoid the impression of last summer - fair or unfair - that randy and Paul had let it get to the day before the school prom and found everyone had either picked someone else or was being sniggered at by their mates. In the end they went for the ugly but boring and 'safe' ginger princess, who was desperate to get away from her abusive Neanderthal long term boyfriend, to the bemusement of all.

Pelty seemed sure we were in for others a couple of mornings back, so this may of course have come as little shock to the board, who may have not actually had all their eggs in this basket of course. Maybe they did learn from last summer, and we have got a good option ready to go.

Oh and not KMac either.

The rank stupidity of Lerner and Faulkner has me sweating over who the next man will be.
I wouldn't put it past those lame brains to appoint Bruce or Curbishley.

Curbishley is the logical McLeish appointment last year. Perceived safe hands.

Ole fitted the bill to what their statement said perfectly though. Lambert, Martinez, AVB still fit that. All still out there.

well its a nice thought but there's plenty of managers with loads of medals as a player who've had revolts. Think its more to do with your man-management skills and your ability to follow-through with discipline. The problem we've had mainly is anyone who causes trouble is unsellable and in some cases we haven't got anyone else.

I'm still hoping the board are thinking outside the box, personally I don't think Lambert was/is interested which is why we didn't go in for him, after their comments we can't now go for a bog standard manager....can we?

I dont think they can be blamed for solksjaer changing his mind, heade it clear he wanted the job as moldes press statements confirmed but the change of heart was a shock no doubt.

I dont think lambert, martinez or rodgers would take the job so maybe poyet would be better than grayson.

Poyet / zola ?

Personally i would throw a package at lambert thst he would find hard to turn down in the hope of tempting  him , but its sad to hear the media ridiculing our job search for the 3 rd year running .

Doug may have his critics but he was damn good at tempting managers to villa.

Pelty did say though there were good options this time and solksjaer was not the the only one to impress , so all is not lost yet.

Not blaming them for that, i'm having a go at the constant balls ups since O'Neill left.

Betting is changing again, lambert now 100/30 fave, martinez 4/1 grayson 6/1.

The problem with martinez is we would orobably have to wait until liverpool make a decision before knowing if hes still available.
