The quality of canditates this year is so much better then last year.

the attitude at the club is significantly better than last year. Last year seemed desperate in the extreme. This year I think they've realised that while the finances aren't perfect, and there are still some obvious MON contract cuts to make (Dunne, Warnock, Collins possibly) that they need to reinvest in the club to drive revenues up. The types of manager that we are attracting will all galvanise the club and fans. The ones they went after last summer simply bought into their austerity vision. No potential manager wants to be told, "many of the players here are wankers, sell them if you can but not for nothing, and by the way, you have fuck all to spend". Is it any surprise that McLeish saw that as a step up from his previous employer?

Villa is a very attractive option now because of that, and because any new manager is taking us on from the jaws of hell. The only way is up, and with proper backing, which they will all want and I'm sure they'll get, we can in short time be every bit as successful as Newcastle was last year. Or at least see the momentum shift to put us on that trajectory. Liverpool by comparison isn't as attractive. They blew their wad on crap, and the board there are somewhat is an austerity position while trying to attract an appropriate manager to carry that out with the backdrop of supporters enraged because they think they are Barcelona and should be getting Guardiola and the like. Much, much tougher job to fill.

I just hope RL and PF won't be impressed by someone who claims he can do the job on the cheap and put off by someone who will be up front about how big a rebuilding job needs to be done.

So we're back here now.

I'd have Bruce Wayne from that list, but that's about it.
