Lambert reminds me of MON.
RDM reminds me of McLeish.
OGS reminds me of.... er.... I haven't a clue, as I know nothing about the way he manages.
So, let's get him in, nothing to lose, can't be as bad as last season...

RDM reminds you of McLeish?? You're joking of course - RM plays ATTACKING football - look at Wigan's last few results....

Oops!....my mistake, apologies thought you meant Martinez! Yes, agree, Di Matteo is a bit negative but is far more tactically aware than McLeish

I honestly think that whoever comes in will have his own back room team - therefore K Mac will go back to what he does best and look after the reserves!!!
That may be part of the problem tho - last season Randy only wanted a manager and a No2 as he wanted to keep the present back room intact and save some cash!
I cannot see a problem with this with OGS and his No 2 sitting down with Kev and Sid and talking thing through over a cup of tea and a packet of hobnobs (other biscuits are available) - it worked in the liverpool "bootroom"
This would also make sense with bringing the kids through as I dont see much money being available this summer, we may see some Norwegian’s we have never heard of and maybe a couple of Manure reserves due to his previous links

I hope Randy/OGS reads/gets told about this thread as winning over the fans is half the battle, and that battle seems won already. Get him in.

Its really refreshing to see the fans all pulling in the same direction despite the obvious risks we face in getting him. It means that win or lose we've at least all got a stake in this.

Totally agree. And from the club's point of view, hiring someone who the fans have already bought into has got to be a big plus too.

If Randy chooses OGS their's no comeback. He has given us what we want. So if it does go tits up he can throw his arms up in the air if we give him shit. Just letting you know. On the other hand it would be good if the supporters of AVFC had something to cheer about. It's a no lose situation for Randy with OGS, as he's the favourite ( in the polls).

OGS coaches his players to play the way we've been hoping for and i think thats why he's by far the preferred choice, although anyone half decent would be brilliant after the last disaster.

Please tell me views on De Matteo being negative have not been formed from the semi-final against Barcelona and winning the European Cup with an understrength team against one of the giants of Europe on their own patch.  His tenure at West Brom would cast doubt, but I personally don't believe he would be a bad appointment.

Picked this post only to highlight a point repeated on here which I find hard to comprehend.

We know so little about this guy, the style his teams play (really, has anybody watched enough of Molde to claim expertise?) and how he will perform at a level far beyond that at which he currently manages, I'm shocked the majority are prepared to take such a gung-ho approach to appointing him.

He may, in time, prove to be a great manager. I confess, I've warmed a little to the idea of giving him a chance, but to suggest we have nothing to lose by it all going tits up - and let's be honest, what career history do we have to suggest it won't - is astonishing.
this is probably why Randy wants some time to mull things over - does he try and get a manager with some type of pedigree (Martinez etc) or go with a completely new idea with OGS
It may well be that he thinks OGS with his new ideas together with Kev Mac and Sid are the solution, but only time - which hopefully he will be given - will tell!
I for one am behind this, but then its not my money  ;)
I think Randy may look back at the last 2 appointments (been down the pedigree route) and where did it get us and how much has it cost him. I can understand the change in direction in going after someone like OGS and it's a bold/brave move.

Yes, but look at the pedigree of the two that he brought in.  Pedigree chumps!!

Definately jumping on the ogs bandwagon now out of all the other candidates. Just seems 'different' to the rest.  Hope to see Ole riding into Villa Park on his Direwolf very soon. All hail Ole King of the North!

Well Fjortoft has just Twatted that a 'reliable' connection to the club has Lambert the frontrunner. Personally, this looks a bit like going for Martinez and McLeish to me - far from similar aims, they look like very different directions. Lambert plays short-term, pragmatic football, whereas OGS looks to want to build something. That's why I'd prefer him.

I reckon Kendrick's sources are a bit more accurate. He still reckons OGS the fave.

Does he think this based on a source though? I thought he just 'reckoned' it.
