I'm cooling on Lambert a little bit, I hadn't really been aware he was perceived to be such a MON clone.

Most of that is down to his Celtic connections and the fact that he's MON's doppleganger. Lambert showed last enough last season that he's not as predictable and rigid like MONs teams are.

Not as predictable but often as rigid. He switches system to defensive effect in a way MON couldn't imagine, but his attacking template is exactly the same as MON's, and has been through his (albeit short) career so far: have a big man, knock it long for him to fight for, get it wide, cross it in. Or score from a set piece. I don't think he's a bad manager at all, far from it, just that I'm yet to be convinced he's the right man for us.

The stats suggest still pretty direct though - crosses into the big man etc? Perhaps that's unfair. I am lking the sound of Solskaer's passing style, 433 tactics and attacking ethos.

I don't really know why I'm quite so positive about OGS, but I really get the feeling he's going to be a very good coach

He'll probably be awful now (unless we don't get him and he goes on to win the Champions League with Molde)

anyone who wants the job should just come out and have the balls to say it. They have to want the job more than they want to keep their present employers happy.

Could we get this poll reset with added OGS? I'm interested in how he'd fair against Lambert and the other options.

Having several interviewees is a daft way of doing it IMO. 'Hello, Aston Villa here. How do you fancy fucking up your relationship with your board, players and fans for a one in four chance of getting the job'?

I am convinced he is not now. I want us to move away from that style of football, as it will only ever get you so far. Martinez despite the results not being great early season is preferable to me. Rodgers clearly wants to stay at Swansea, and fair enough. Ole obviously will take the job if Randy offers Molde a decent package, and I like what I have seen from him.

From that list for the new vote, my order of preference is: Solskjær (by some way), Rodgers, Martinez, Lambert, Di Matteo.

I still think we might see another unexpected candidate though.

How about Holloway? Blackpool play good football and he would certainly be interesting!

Absolutely agree.

It's different in the USA. It is very rare for a Head Coach to go from one NFL team to another. Most interviewees are either out of work, working in the college game or Offensive/Defensive Co-Ordinators (their equivalent of an Assistant Manager). So they attend the interview with the blessing of their current team's owners who won't stand in their way.

It's completely different over here where if a coach attends an interview he'll immediately be branded "Judas".

The thing to do is identify a manager. Talk to him or his agent behind his club's back. Only make an official approach when you know he's desperate to come. Not nice, but it's what everyone does.

Someone agrees with you:
From Twitter -

Vital Villa‏@VitalVilla

Holloway now will be linked to villa. If Chelsea lose, so will di Matteo,

Because Villa would naturally be interested in attracting losing managers, following last season?
